A wonderful album, undoubtedly a career best and an exemplary case study in how to respond artistically to a life-changing event.

Insanely beautiful, with the strength and delicacy of spider silk. [Mar 2018, p.25]

On Cusp, Diane embraces the yet-to-come that she has set in motion for herself with a clarity of purpose and a musicality all the more sublime for the time she has spent living.

The album title comes from Menig’s near-death during childbirth, and her subsequent realisation that we are forever “on the cusp” between death and life, heartbreak and euphoria, all of which are in fulsome supply here.

Some patience is required, but if you embrace the slow burn, Cusp will slowly reveal itself to you; the bright harmonies covering Diane’s darkest lyrics will come crumbling down. And when that happens, all you can do is listen--in awe of the beauty born from personal pain.

She works her voice perfectly, how she play with words making it sweet to perform is beautiful. One of the greatest live singers I've ever heard.
