    An R&B classic, Beyoncé was making her mark here and showing us what she was made of, showing us that she was an album artist from the very start as well as someone with amazing singles. THIS album spawned classics like Crazy and Dangerously in Love, Baby boy and Naughty Girl and Me Myself and I, it was an insight into a 21/22 year old beyoncé’s view on love from a youthful almost naiveAn R&B classic, Beyoncé was making her mark here and showing us what she was made of, showing us that she was an album artist from the very start as well as someone with amazing singles. THIS album spawned classics like Crazy and Dangerously in Love, Baby boy and Naughty Girl and Me Myself and I, it was an insight into a 21/22 year old beyoncé’s view on love from a youthful almost naive sense as seen in her lyrics in songs like DIL and Gift from a virgo. The lyrics are mature and exciting, the production blends well with her light nasally tone and the flow and pacing from song to song work best in some areas more than others with it starting off vibrant and funky with “Crazy In Love” to it turning a bit more calm in “Be With You” and “Me, myself and I” then it kind of flip-flopping in the last 1/4 of the album. The best and strongest tracks are the 4 singles released as well as the the tracks “yes” “be with you” “the closer i get you” with the late Luther Vandross and the best song on the album “speechless” 6 minutes of pure passion and sexual tension. The More Weaker songs are “daddy” inspired by her father Matthew Knowles “Gift from a Virgo” which has a very fairy tale aura around it and the fun song “signs” featuring Missy Elliot, these songs aren’t bad by any means they just don’t stand as tall and strong as their peers on the album. This album as a unit is one of the best debut albums with most tracks feeling so we’re thought out and demanding, this is a glimpse into what beyoncé would become as we know her to be in 2023.… Expand

    I'll not lie that this experience was quit disappointing, but I gotta say that it's mainly my fault. I was so exited for this album because... well, it's Beyoncé and I love some of her songs like Halo, Formation and even Single Ladies and that was what I was expecting and totally not what I got. Regardless of the fact that "Dangerously in Love" doesn't have any outstanding song besides theI'll not lie that this experience was quit disappointing, but I gotta say that it's mainly my fault.     Debut album and she has one timeless song as "Crazy In Love" which is realy legendary. Despite of this she also has other hits like "Naughty Girl", "Baby Boy", "Me, Myself and I" which are great.
    Other songs are good, you can feel soul and r&b vibes that makes you feel good. "Speechless" and "Yes" just melts away me. Good job B.

    Today is this album's 17th anniversary. I saw everyone praising this album so I decided to revisit it but my opinion on it hasn’t changed at all unfortunately. The singles "Crazy in Love", "Naughty Girl" and "Baby Boy" are three incredible bops. "Crazy in Love" is just super energetic and danceable, while "Naughty Girl" is one of the sexiest songs ever and I love the Donna Summer sample.Today is this album's 17th anniversary. The singles "Crazy in Love", "Naughty Girl" and "Baby Boy" are three incredible bops. "Crazy in Love" is just super energetic and danceable, while "Naughty Girl" is one of the sexiest songs ever and I love the Donna Summer sample. However, the only track I like besides those three is "Hip Hop Star". It’s a great mixture of hip-hop, R&B and some slight rock influences. The rest of the album is a borefest for me unfortunately. I feel like I'm listening to the same slow R&B song over and over again. There’s nothing exciting or different happening after track 4 and this album has 15 songs overall. I have to clarify though that I'm not the biggest fan of 2000s R&B anyway. It's Beyoncé's worst album for me but an artist's debut is rarely their best album. It started a legendary career, her vocals are outstanding on this album of course and I love the iconic album cover.

The singles proved to be the best part of the album and that is never good for a record. The production was great and the vocals weren't bad, but the lyrical content and melodic choices didn't work for the project. Some of the features worked and some didn't. O single que concedeu o sucesso a ela, "Crazy In Love" tem o posto de uma das melhores músicas do álbum, junto com Me, Myself And I e Naughty Girl. Nesse álbum, também mostrou que tem uma voz potente, e que vai fazer músicas por um bom tempo.

The album includes a lot of more traditional tracks like the grammy-winning duet with Luther Vandross "The Closer I Get To You" and the disco classic "Naughty Girl". Contemporary R&B is also present on this masterpiece with excellent ballads like "Me Myself & I" and "Be With You". Others highlights include the title track which is easliy the most moving love ballad Beyoncé has ever sung and the making-love rock-y "Speechless". My favorite song and the most playful one is "Signs". Some songs could have been better but are still very enjoyable if you are an R&B sucker: Hip Hop Star, That's How I Like It, Gift From Virgo, Yes.

    Dangerously In Love etablished Beyoncé as the most important R&B act of the 21st Century and the Queen Of Contemporary R&B. Her next album B'Day will prove to be her signature record because of its unique sound and consistently the fan-favorite album.     This was an average debut album and while it delivered some great singles like Crazy In Love, there are very few good album tracks. Most are slow and dull songs that don't come anywhere close to being hits.

    Dangerously in Love is the album that showed the world that she doesn't need Kelly and Michelle. She proved with Dangerously in Love that she can release timeless songs (Crazy in Love and Baby Boy). And the 5 Grammys she won for the album are just another proof that the album is flaw-free.

    None of beyonces albums have much depth to them but this one seems to be the most complete. Hits like "Baby Boy" "Naughty Girl" and "Crazy In Love" make a solid opening to the mediocre rest of the album. Overall not bad but still teases us into more as Beyonce often does with her albums. Best she has to offer in her discography.

Imma start with the cons of this album: 1. the songs were reinvented so instead of Beyonce making this an all new album she re made some songs, gave them a beyonce twist and perfected them.     One of Beyonce's best work yet. It was the perfect introduction to the solo Beyonce. It has solidified her as the superstar we know today. Packed with dance hits and emotional love ballads, you won't be bored. Favorite tracks: Baby Boy, Crazy In Love, Dangerously In Love, That's How You Like It, and Naughty Girl.

    UnderRated just like all Her Albums. No Fillers, Lesser thans but no fillers. Its packed with some really great songs all throughout. Great Album. 5 stars.

Beyonce's stellar and oft-fluid singing skills certainly help listeners get through the tepid, boring material.     Absolutely the best of her talent, all of the album. B-stands for the best, keep it coming girl. Let Jerk taint your song writing, acting singing, dancing, etc. abilities. Obviously you haven't. The main ones hating are the main ones buying your music and seeing your movies.

    Well done Beyonce! A fabulous album! All the songs were great with the exception of Bonnie And Clyde '03 - it's a very boring song. She teams up with some of the biggest names in rap and hip hop which makes it twice as good

    I think this album is superb.It shows awesome vocal range and creative genius.Those that disliked it may no havet liked the lyrics or the beats,but one thing you CAN NOt hate on is B's voice.The sister can blow!!!

    Ugh. Boring, repetitive, and trite. Good vocal range and good looks do not a good singer make. I also love how Metacritic allows posters like Vicky g. below to insult people (maybe all the misspellings made it go through the profanity filter, eh?) if they disagree with her narrow point of view. You know what Vicky G? I CAN hate if I want to.

    I love 2 songs on this album. one with Jay-Z that's how I like it, because he is the greatest of all times, and the other dangerously in love. The rest were O.K. I'm not gonna hate on B though she has a nice voice but I just miss the old Destiny's Child. As long as Jay is happy I'm happy

    This cd is off the chains. Beyonce's voice is very pure and Beautiful, and so is she. People need to stop hatin her; she deserves all the sucsess, she writes all her own songs. Listen to speechless, and you really here her vocal ability. People need to stop comparing her to Ashanti, there voices are totally different. Keep doin yo thang beyonce and brush those hatas off.

I KNOW that Beyonce is without a doubt the queen of R&B right now and she makes those otha girls like Alicia Keys and Ashanti who are famous but can't sing worth a d$mn look dumb as h$ll! She has total control over here voice and she very beautiful. How many people do you know are as good looking as she is and can sing as good as she can. She is the total package!

    Her voice is soothing and sexy! It's easy to relate to her songs and she is awesome as a solo artist! I recommend her album to anyone that enjoys real music from the heart.
