With placid, feline production, tight harmonies and breezy beats, much of DNA ambles along the well-trodden path of the temperate demi-ballad. But it's the ventures away from this that prove Little Mix function far better either side of mid-tempo.

A solidly enjoyable, radio-ready pop album.

When off-kilter beats collide with impeccable harmonies and pleasingly daft lyrics, it sounds like pop as it should be, and their gamble in borrowing De La Soul's Ring Ring Ring refrain for How Ya Doin comes good. The ballads, however, plod along with heavy-handed emotion.

Such an efficient compendium of current pop influences is a little underwhelmng; nothing here sets out to redefine the girl group sound.
  5. The main duty of pop is to be catchy, and it's a duty which DNA mostly shirks miserably.

  1. Amazing album! I'm waiting for May so I can actually get the album, because I live in the US. This is a great album,, and Little Mix are a great band.
  2. It might be a decent pop album for the most part, but, when you compare it to works of Britain's most powerful and acclaimed pop act of the last decade Girls Aloud you can't help but realise that Little Mix's DNA is somewhat basic at best. It creates no new sounds and unlike the work of Girls Aloud doesn't have any distinctiveness. It's a good pop album, but the power pop created by Girls Aloud (Xenomania) will always be that little bit better. Full Review »
  3. Great debut album from these very talented young girls! A nice selection of catchy pop songs lead by the single 'Wings'. They are mostly upbeat songs that get you in nothing but a good mood :) Full Review »
