All Them Witches brings a very strong masculine desert aesthetic to Dying Surfer. It makes me feel like I'm on a solitary journey in the Mojave. Like I'm driving through the desert in my Ford Mustang with the smell of burning gasoline in the air and by the end of the album sitting by a campfire having lonely thoughts. All Them Witches' strongest suit is their beautiful instrumentals e.g.:All Them Witches brings a very strong masculine desert aesthetic to Dying Surfer. All Them Witches' strongest suit is their beautiful instrumentals e.g.: This is where it falls apart and The Mellowing stand out. The blend of desert rock and psychedelic rock are a perfect mixture and the album manages to have a cohesive sound throughout, despite a few hiccups that feel quite out of place, like Open Passageways. I love the instrumentation and the overall aesthetic of the album and I will definitely return to it in the future. I'd consider this album a very strong 7, it had a few songs that threw me off, but it's still solid. Would recommend. Expand

The quieter songs that follow are more hit-and-miss. [Apr 2016, p.101]

The significance of the LP title is never apparent--this is the most land-locked album imaginable. Still, here’s an invigorating enough noise to ward off the demons.

It's an interesting trip, if one that occasionally sees ATW stray too far into self-indulgence. [27 Feb 2016, p.52]
