Floating Features hits the ear and satisfies as much as a California-grown avocado, buttery and smooth.

La Luz’s sound is a lot like a mai tai: Both sweet and strong, it goes down easy before knocking you flat.

An elevated level of bravado is present from the outset on La Luz’s third album, Floating Features.

Despite its many nostalgic elements, Floating Features represents a new start in a new city, and though it often looks inward, it’s grounded in the present and glances towards the future.

There's an appealing American cynicism lurking beneath their enchanting '60s doo-wop-indebted sound. [Jun 2018, p.30]

This album is smart fun from a band that actually makes something fresh out of the sounds of the past, and as long as La Luz keep doing that, they'll be worth hearing.

As warm and plain as this album can be, it beckons you to its imaginary world that is not unlike our own. Its dreams make love and true peace feel like an end goal. Though Floating Features represents it as a road with few bumps, the weight of each riff and word make it a sweltering task in a strange-looking world.

One of the best albums of 2018 if not the best - a masterpiece. Every single song comes into its own when given the chance.
