    There’s everything from glitchy pop, dance tracks and emo rock on this album, but a key message, Smith’s unique vocals, and a tendency towards electronic earworms, make it a sonically cohesive work that has just the perfect touch of modern life to make us feel something, but with enough escapism that we don’t burn out from it.

    The record itself functions like an escape pod. When confined within Bastille’s catchy hooks and imaginative, era-spanning production, what lies ahead suddenly isn’t so terrible. The future is bright – for 30 minutes’ worth of bops, at least.

    It’s easy to make fun of, but the melodies are uniformly gorgeous, the layered synth and string arrangements are bright and exciting, Smith’s singing is filled with pliant emotion, and it all adds up to a pop album so addictive that it feels as though it had been intravenously injected into my system.

    At times Give Me the Future feels a bit heavy-handed. Fortunately, the album's brisk pace saves it from feeling overblown. This is music for and of its moment, with a mix of ambition and pop concision that's unmistakably Bastille.

    It's a masterpiece. Unique, fun, wonderful transitions and a amazing futuristic vibe. Lots of books, and movies references.

    If You are a new guy in a community - this album is a nice one to start exploring Bastille.

    Bastille delivers a couple flashes in the pan on this one, and although cohesive in it's subject matter, it felt like they took the worstBastille delivers a couple flashes in the pan on this one, and although cohesive in it's subject matter, it felt like they took the worst sounds from their previous works and used that to make a mediocre pop piece. It's dissociation from it's traditional audience reflects perfectly on the dissociation the album haphazardly tries to portray. It feels as though Dan Smith read one DailyMail article on the metaverse and made a whole album from it, hardly getting into any nitty gritty subjects that could come with our new nightmare of online relations.… Expand
