Her Loss isn’t always a deep album, but that doesn’t make it any less profound. Sometimes excellent rapping over very dope beats mixed with a tinge of introspection goes a long way. Her Loss is our gain.

While Her Loss houses no immediate street bangers or Billboard hits, it's the sum of it all that makes it Drake's best record this decade. From the comical fake promos during its rollout to the memorable one-liners and aggressive diss verses or the TikTok memes it will generate for months to come, Her Loss has a lot of meat on its bones.

Though not without its missteps, “Her Loss” leaves the unshakable impression that Drake, in 2022, is doing what inspires him rather than pandering. One year removed from “Certified Lover Boy,” that represents a surprising and encouraging evolution.
  4. It’s yet more evidence that Drake’s art is suffering under the strain of his obsession with churning out as much music as is physically possible. And while 21 doesn’t have the same problem, both halves of the duo are responsible for an album that had the potential to be a classic, and missed.

Her Loss is scattered, flowing more like a mixtape than a well-designed album, but there are plenty of highlights to balance out the less fully formed inclusions.

“Her Loss” is frisky and centerless, a mood more than a mode. ... Often on this album — “More M’s,” “Privileged Rappers” — it feels as if they are ceding space to each other, side by side but not interwoven. Sometimes, like on “Spin Bout U,” they successfully melt into something greater than their parts.

As Her Loss abandons 21’s form of smack talk as a playful, revelatory exercise, its tone shifts to Drake’s toxic petulance. ... There’s a gloominess this time around, and it’s not just the sloppy sequencing and hit-or-miss quality that ranges from clear standouts like “Pussy & Millions,” where the so-called “treacherous twins” team up with Travis Scott, to aimless dross like “Major Distribution.” ... Singular misfire.

Drake is the more predominant artist on this "collab" album but he did a great job so how can I be mad. It's easily the best Drake album since Views.

Drake has been on such a boring streak as of late, and this really does nothing to change that. Boring beats, boring rapping, and sometimes downright awful singing. There were a couple standout moments though, the Travis feature was great, Spin Bout U had a decent beat, and the Savage solo song was inoffensive at best. Overall pretty bad but not without two or three decent moments Expand

Not only does it does it tout pro choice bars that seemingly frame drizzy as someone concerned with the protection of women but soon after he continues to reach into his reliable endless supply of misogynoir when making light and questioning a black women's story of surviving abuse from one if his peers(despite sampling her on the exact same record) . This isn't an isolated as Ice Spice is caught in his cross hairs for reason only being she rebuffed his advances. Which i guess is the album's intent, to be a fun foil to black female rap. Politics aside the music rarely sounds exciting here from Drakes lazy delivery on rich flex that has garnered parodies on tiktok to how forgettable a bulk of the songs are it's hard to concern yourself with the record. It feels like a sequel to certified lover boy and dare say an improvement but nonetheless is unfortunately proof that the drake of "Take Care","If you're reading this its to late" & " Nothing was the same " is gone never to return. That passion less flexes and whining is all we have to gain from an Aubrey release. Expand
