It genuinely is a fabulous album full of vim and vigour, from the celebratory burp that opens the album on the effervescent lip curling fuzz pop of “Pull the Plug” to the “tears at prom night vibe” (musically at least) on the gorgeous album closer “Take Me Away.”
  2. Things even get a bit classic rock on the anthemic ‘All The Way’, which features Ride’s Andy Bell, but this self-produced and self-released record is DIY punk through-and-through.

DIY at its wilful, weird finest.

While Homecoming is missing some of the eccentricity and intimacy that made Lung Bread for Daddy so powerful, its frankness and playfulness proves Du Blonde can give her music a pop makeover without losing what makes it real.

While Homecoming could hardly be described as a massively commercial record, it’s certainly Du Blonde’s most accessible album to date, and the short running time means that it never outstays its welcome.

What the streamlined sound of ‘Homecoming’ lacks in broad musical scope, it more than makes up for in attitude.

Her earnestness makes for both difficult and comforting listening, as she vocalises some fairly morbid tales while offering comradeship through the strife.

For me it brings the Pixies sound of "Trompe Le Monde" to mind with a bit of Weezer thrown in (or that vintage). Lyrically, it's a bit weird and quirky but then aren't all the interesting ones. Themes range from silly to serious and back again. It might be raw but it's got a real melodic quality and is easy to listen to. Full Review »

Witty yes, original yes and at times serious yes, but never dumb,. Du Blonde has the license to entertain from the word go
