In sum, How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident cements Future Of The Left as unique.

How to Stop Your Brain in an Accident is arguably the band's finest hour.

Even more than any of their previous outings How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident bridges the gap between efficient noise rock, whip-smart comedy and timely social commentary.

The now-quartet’s fourth record marries prickly melody with glossy discord, eclipsing not only its predecessors but its entire genre.

While this album may not be the all-encompassing assault that was the signature of The Plot Against Common Sense this is a record that shows a willingness to change, adapt, try out exciting new things that simply retreading that formula would not have done. Outstanding.

Biting, poetic and awkward, this is music with brains to match its brawn. [19 Oct 2013, p.54]

How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident is right up there with the giddy heights of Travels With Myself And Another and proves how downright essential FotL are.

It is a serious album for serious rock fans, even though taking anything seriously isn’t exactly Andy Falkous, Jack Egglestone, Jimmy Watkins and Julia Ruzicka’s strong point.

It's nasty and explosive and full of bile, a hard rockin' bare-knuckle blow to the temple that'll lay you flat out. In other words, How to Stop Your Brain in an Accident is just the thing for the modern man, those confused and angrily impotent brutes.

They can still rage, summoning plenty of singalong anger on Donny Of The Decks and Things To Say To Friendly Policemen. But their targets feel more academic.

Sure, FOTL's protagonist is as pissed off with 'The Industry' as ever, but throughout much of the 14-track beast that is How To Stop Your Brain In An Accident, there doesn't feel to be quite enough venom seeping through.

I hate this band. They are too clever, too powerful, too connected, too sexy, just too goddamn perfect. It feels exactly like just beforeI hate this band. They are too clever, too powerful, too connected, too sexy, just too goddamn perfect. It feels exactly like just before the revolution in 1917 with Falkous as Lenin... and we all know how that ended. Anyway, this is the album that Trotsky would have released if he was some rock demon god replete with icepick in head. Brilliant and bloody. Full Review »

A great album and a return to form for the band after what I found to be an underwhelming last album in plot against the senses.
