This record is crawling with too many hooks and good-time jams to quibble over guitar tone.
  2. Jul 18, 2012

Hypnotic Nights continues with the Weezer worship introduced on 2011's We Are the Champions, but answers the fuzz-pop frivolity with equal doses of motorik groove and psychedelic drone.

The production may be a little cleaner, but the same knack for great fuzzed-out ditties is still there... a pretty good album.

The Orralls might have benefited from a little extra direction in the songwriting department.

The duo shows maturation musically and lyrically, albeit wildly, proving that they are true, spirited forces to be reckoned with.
  6. 60
The magnificence of their live show is lost a little on an album that screams 'organised fun' more than 'spontaneous party', but mostly it's giddy garage rock.
  7. Jul 17, 2012

Hypnotic Nights has the feeling of an album created by Venn diagram, with the outer edges of glam, psychedelia, garage rock and hard rock connecting to create "the ultimate rock album…you know, for kids!"
