  • Summary: The fourth album for the R&B singer features Fabolous, Lil Wayne, and Trey Songz as a guest artists.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 7 out of 8
  2. Negative: 0 out of 8
  1. Amerie returns with In Love & War, an album that is much more creative than its title indicates while also playing out a bit like Because I Love It redux.
  2. Sexy, credible, committed, In Love And War works damn hard for the money, and stands as another thoroughly modern record from a lady embodying strangely old-skool virtues.
  3. Gifted with a sweetly aching voice, she also has a way with slowies that make them less sick-making than most R&B ballads.
  4. On Amerie's fourth album, she excels at getting in your face without overdosing on divatude — not much excessive Beyoncé-size vocalizing here.

This album is the best thing that happened to the year 2009, musically. Amerie has improved and grown artistically. A must have listened for any R'n'B/Soul/HipHop fan. Expand

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this album. I really didn't think Amerie could release anything that would come close to the VERY underrated Because I Love It, but man oh man, In Love & War has been the best surprise of my year. This is a real, complete album. It's not hyped with big producers; you won't be hearing the-dream, timbaland or the neptunes on this one. Amerie writes her own songs and co-produces all her songs. PLEASE check out "tell me you love me," "swag back," "different people," "heard 'em all" and "why r u." Expand

The best R&B Album this year hands down. My only wish is that her label would have gave it real promotion.
