    Life, death and love.
This album is for me the masterpiece of radiohead, the incorporation of art rock elements makes this album a symphony and a sing of the beauty of the world in life and how this end so fast.

Finest Radiohead album and possibly the best album of the last decade. One of the warmest Radiohead albums with standout tracks including 15 Step, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi and Reckoner.

Radiohead's most cohesive album. It combines their, The Bends era pop sensibilities, with the more eclectic and experimental nature of later albums like Kid A. It sounds like you're floating in space, enjoying the emptiness around you, as a virus has wiped out the entire civilisation.

If you only know Radiohead for 'Creep' and 'High and dry' then you should listen to this album. Also if you like all of Radiohead's discography, including 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac' and their other more experimental work you should listen to this album. If you have no idea what a Radiohead is, you should listen to this album. Basically, you should listen to this album.

This record will go down in history as one of the best of all time. Radiohead deploys their darkest of elements mixed with a bag of emotions and melodies that have not been yet heard before. Every song is unique and haunting. Yorke's songwriting is legendary.

This is how a perfect album sounds like. There isn’t much music in this world that you could compare to In Rainbows. This record’s just... Oh my god, why would I even try to explain? Give this one a listen. Or rather a hundred. Experience it. Study it. Keep playing it over and over. This album changed my life & it may change yours, too.

Top: Strange to write that, but everything here seems perfectly fit. Not a single worse moment, which in my books surpasses even OK Computer (Electrioneering sometimes is annoying). Broghtest moment might include coming of the guitar in 15 Step (reminding me a bit of some cool Frusciante RHCP hooks), Bodysnatchers break, Nude's bass, Weird Fishes arpeggis and vocal canon, All I Need Melody and glockenspiel, Faust Arp folky nature, Reckoner's beat, riff and angelic vocals, House of Cards straightforward melody, Jigsaw turning from said story to belting out the vocals, Videotape's funeral piano hook and somberness. And it's all so crisply produces.

As some may say this is OK Computer II, well it's definitely not. In Rainbows is a whole new world, and I know it can be a little unsettling with all the different genres they explore in it, but that's the magic of the album, which up to date still sounds utterly original and modern. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In Rainbows cannot be described as anything other than a colorful, blissful and powerful experience. With a line of tracks that has no fault (the only one I could possibly consider is Faust Arp due to its less interesting development, but with the context of the album it fits right in), I have no choice other than to give it a 10. 15 Step is a powerful yet melancholic introduction to the project, and it just keeps building up from there until the latter half of the album, where it slows down and ends with one of the saddest songs of all time, Videotape. This project is a journey from the instrumentation to the surprisingly depressing lyricism.

When listening to a good Radiohead song, you can't help but feel connected to others-- strangers, lovers. 15 steps is one for the road, windows down, watching passersby. Kids saying "Yahhh!" Probably my favorite "dance" song since Idioteque. Nude is undoubtedly a favorite and I'm glad the final version arrived without too much glaze. They kept it quiet and that's exactly how I loved it way back when. Too bad the rhodes is gone, though. I have to say, Reckoner was the pleasant surprise overall: Drums and guitar like the Bends & OK Computer--taking us on sentimental states of nostalgia. Thom's voice reaching for those states again, succeeding and then some. But then comes a break, sweeping soundtrack, looking for something more... It's ups and downs, the way his voice mixes in with the violins at the end... it's splendid. Nothing at all what I expected. I thank Radiohead for this music. I thank God for making Radiohead. Expand

Physically, this album does not best any of their three masterworks (The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A), but it certainly equals them in tenacity and consideration. Moreover, what makes this album an amazing accomplishment isn't the sheer brilliance of the songs, but rather the kind of album it is, when it came in, and what it means for a band that many thought were on their way to retirement. And by "kind of album" I mean a very different kind than Radiohead have done before. Whereas much of their previous work has dealt with inward seeking themes of self-deprication, loneliness, and paranoia, In Rainbows bends much of that into something that is comparatively accessible, dealing with romantic themes, and at times... downright bouncy. this is the best record radiohead has realeased in the new milenium , its a beatiful album from start to finish, not to mention the revolutionary way they were able to release it, which I think in time will be the way future artist will release their material

Every once in a while Radiohead comes out to show the musical world what to do next. Well, they are back with their best album since Amnesiac (thats right kids!!)...a beautiful mix of styles that -once again- makes even the hardcore fans adjust their idea of what(ever it is that) Radiohead is.

Reckoner rocks. All I Want makes me well-up. Thealbum is almost unassuming in the way it warms up to you. I am wildly surprised by how much I like it - and how much more I like it each time I hear it. Even non-Radiohead fans will find at least one track they'll like.

Unlike many people, I thought Kid A and Amnesiac were a wonderful departure from OK Computer/Bends era, showcasing the band's varied talents, courage in experimentation, and wealth of influences, from Bjork and Aphex Twin to Charles Mingus and various Classical composers. This album is the most cohesive of their efforts since Kid A, and yet it has some of melodic brilliance, passion and gravitas of their earlier works. The songs work well together, and there is a brilliant mix of sounds, overlapping layers of instruments and electronics, and, for good measure, a lot of soul. Well worth the listen of any music fan, let alone a Radiohead one. Expand

In Rainbows is a perfect amalgam of all that came before from the best band on the planet. While not groundbreaking like O.K. Computer or Kid A, Yorke, Greenwood, Selway, et al. show the pretenders just how to construct a melody quite unlike anything you've ever heard before. That's what keeps the fanatics, like me, coming back for more. A strong contender for album of the year.

I've never been a huge a fan of Radiohead, but this album blew me away. It flows smoothly, and every song is fantastic. And, it's fun to listen to! My one complaint? A lot of the songs sound similar. But hey, it makes for a superb album.

"In/Rainbows" has been an interesting experience for me already. The only thing I can compare it to is my impressions of "Paranoid Android" ten years ago. After about my third listen something about it grabbed me. I don't know if that was how long it took me to catch lyrics, the brilliant structure or if it was a chemical reaction, hysterical and useless (I know - different song). But from then on it was a completely different song than it had been before. I had the same happen with this whole album. My attitude towards it was very lukewarm for the first two or three listens. I don't know when it changed. I think "Nude" and "Reckoner" were where it started. But now, when I play "15 Steps" I cannot stop until it completes. When "Videotape" winds down breathless and beautiful, I want to begin again. And that kind of obsessive listening to an entire album is a privilege few discs have enjoyed. There is something very special here. Dusted Mag needs to give it a few more listens. They will regret the score given, much as I would have regretted the 7 I would have given it a week ago after only two perusals. Expand

It's not as good as Kid A, but what could be? All in all, I'd probably place it 3rd in Radiohead's catalogue, which automatically puts it above most other music. It's great to finally hear some of these songs that have been circulating for so long, although I still prefer the live bootlegged version of Videotape (seriously, go check that out). I would actually give this a 9.5 if I could, but I could not rank it a 10 since that would be in the territory of OK Computer and Amnesiac- albums which were a little more streamlined than this effort. However, this is still one of their best albums and definitely shows the ongoing effort of the band to be avant-garde. Fantastic listen!

A nice relaxed return to the studio for Radiohead. Maybe not as in your face as 2003's Hail to the Thief, but much deeper and easier on the ears. Its as if the band wrote these songs, and just stripped all the fat off of them in the recording studio. There is no filler here.

This is a gentler, warmer and more accessible Kid A. It's not as good as OK Computer, but it's solid. They are so much more interesting, intelligent, original, creative and talented than any other band in the world today.

Their best work since OKC in my opinion. They continue to evolve like no other band. At first listen I was tempted to be disappointed by 15 Steps and Bodysnatchers as I had heard them live but Nude just takes you to another place and it flows from their. Thom's voice is front and center and never sounded better. Album of the Year!

I was never a big Radiohead fan, really. Although I have always been curious on what they are doing because no doubt they are the most avant-garde UK band ever. So, for the first time I was not disappointed at all. In fact, this is a monster record methinks.

If there is anything we should have learnt about Radiohead by now, it's that we should not compare one album to another. Not even Kid A (which I loved) could be compared to Amnesiac (which I found disappointing)...and they were recorded in the same session! So I am certainly not going to compare In Rainbows with OK Computer (which is my favourite album of all time). Anyway, here are Radiohead using the sound they have developed over the past 3 albums, but suddenly it is more focused. They have found the perfect balance between their experimental jazzy sounds and good-old fashioned songwriting. I was very surprised with In Rainbows, as I approached with extreme caution...and, for the first time since 2000, Radiohead pleasantly surprised me. The love affair with the Oxford band is back on. I like this record- an improvement on the last 2. It might even be better than kidA after a few more listens. What I can't agree with are those reviewers saying this album isn't another "electronic" album. After my first few listens, this is more of an "electronic album" than hail to the thief was. Plenty of beeps and drum machines here. I do like it though. Good effort.
