Despite this one skippable moment ["Beautiful"], Kiss Me Once is a glittering, fun, and surprisingly powerful album that's classic Kylie through and through.

The 11-song set is drizzled with plenty of that Minogue jus. [Apr 2014, p.117]

There’s more than enough in this album to keep her in that position--so, come for the gay brostep, stay for the songcraft and character.

Dodgy songs abound, but so does Kylie's plucky charm. [21 Mar 2014, p.62]

It's contemporary enough for the 2014 marketplace, but classy enough to maintain the clout of an improbably evergreen pop diva.

Full of sparkling hooks, the results do a good job of melding Minogue’s effervescent pop grooves with the dense, heavily treated vocals and deep sub bass of modern electro dance trends.... Subject matter and delivery are strained by coquettish pandering.

The album starts strong with classic Kylie banger Into The Blue, but it suddenly succumbs to faddishness on nondescript disco tune Sexy Love and the weirdly dated dubstep track Sexercize.

Expand

Australian pop princess, Kylie Minogue, continues to use various producers, which causes the album identity to be lost. Her previous album, "Aphrodite", is a masterpiece compared to "Kiss Me Once". And "Beautiful", her collaboration with Enrique Iglesias, might be the worst song of her entire career. One thing that is missed is her songwriting skills. There is only one track with her own lyrics, and we all know how well Kylie can write songs. The album is neither 100% pop nor 100% EDM, it's just an amount of productions. But, still, it is something good. The Kylie-touch that only she can give to her stuff makes everything match perfectly. Maybe, it this record belonged to any other artist, it wouldn't be good at all. But I think that her biggest mistake was not to include "Sparks", the B-Side for the lead single of the album, "Into the Blue", on the album's final cut. It's probably the best song of the "Kiss Me Once" era. Expand

Overall, a quite solid pop album, However, "Beautiful" (even though it's a decent ballad), stops the album from being a great dance-pop album it wants to be.
Highlights: Into The Blue, Kiss Me Once, Fine.

However, for all it's fun and likability, it's also a little messy. It feels like a wasted opportunity. 'X' and 'Aphrodite' were progressive and consistent records, both demanded respect in the electronic field. Kiss Me Once would have been perfect opportunity to release her most powerful dance record to date, instead, we got a classic pop album. Yes it's good, yes it's well sang, yes it's well produced, yes it's packed with personality, but is it Kylie's best album? Sadly not. Expand

Once again, Kylie and her comfortable popdanceI'm just gonna say this: This is one of the most rehash things I've ever heard in my life. Once again, Kylie and her comfortable popdance zone. It's very recycled, nothing classic, boring as hell and the same sounds on and on. I feel in a mix between 'Aphrodite' and 'Fever' (in a bad way). Expand
