  1. Nick Franglen and Fred Deakin rarely miss with this album.
  2. Simultaneously laid back and bursting with intensity, 'Lost Horizons' is a film score inviting each of us to direct our own personal movie.
  3. Such perfectionism can easily be construed as soullessness, but I think what Deakin and Franglin are actually striving for here is to strike a balance between the warmth and humanity of their music's sounds and the machine-like grace of its flawless production.

Multi-hued melodies flow like lava and threaten to swallow foothills of funk. [Nov 2002, p.78]
  5. Everything about Lemon Jelly is meticulous, extending beyond the detailed production and lush orchestration.

    80
Like Moon Safari-era Air, unleashes shimmering, cinematic musical waves that gently wash over you but eventually suck you in entirely. [Nov 2002, p.113]
  7. Music that's at once beautiful, joyful, and pure aural pleasure.
  8. Uncut

Think early Air meets hip-hop, the West Coast harmonies and Ultramarine-style tech-fok eccentricities merging with euphoric yet becalmed moodscapes. [Nov 2002, p.113]
  9. A delightful but slightly faceless blend of lounge pop, subtle beats, found sound and mellow jazz influences.
  10. Entertainment Weekly

    Mostly, it's pleasant background music. [15 Aug 2003, p.74]
  11. Make no mistake, the record is extremely endearing and flawlessly constructed-- it's just hard to love an album that has a dazzling surface and not much underneath.
  12. Blender
    60
Anyone who's enjoyed its predecessor may not find the follow-up effort entirely essential. [#12, p.145]
  13. Feels like a widescreen Technicolor dream.

For me, it's not quite as focused as some of their better work and while I love some of the tracks on here, I get a bit bored with others and tend to skip. I can't say this for some of their other releases for example lemonjelly.ky Full Review »
