For all its abrasion and denatured noise, Metz isn't a statement of nihilism or finality; it's a bright, exploratory scalpel making the first of hopefully many incisions.

You can imagine, and probably relate, to the monotony and helpless angst that attacks us when we're a certain age, going through certain ritualistic processes of life. So imagine this record as the soundtrack to those feelings, and how liberating, not only that would have felt then, but does feel now.

Metz [have] easily made one of the finest and most ferocious punk albums in years on this sledgehammer of a debut.
  4. Oct 18, 2012
Undeniably one of my favorite albums of the year, METZ shines brightly, like a Molotov cocktail at the moment of impact.
  5. Oct 18, 2012
This is an album that sounds fresh despite having its roots firmly planted in the post-hardcore/pre-grunge era.
  6. Oct 10, 2012
Not since the Men dropped Leave Home last summer has a young band made an album of pure, hard-edged rock this good or entertainingly lacerating. [No. 92, p.56]
  7. Oct 10, 2012
These are tightly constructed songs that sledgehammer a jagged line between the Pixies' inventive pop clamor and the hazy beauty of another clever noise purveyor deserving of the all-caps treatment, HEALTH.
  8. Oct 10, 2012
There's a surface graininess that amplifies the corrosive qualities of the band's sound and the strep-throat rawness of Edkins' voice, but also serves to accentuate some of the more surprising elements in the mix.

I registered just to rate this album, since that user score is a joke. This album absolutely demolishes. Imagine a Jesus Lizard album cranked to the absolutely extreme. 10/10 Album of the Year Full Review »

METZ has got great sound and interesting melody, but all songs look very simple without something extraordinary, without wow-things. It is ordinary, but good album, which doesn't open new doors and windows. They sit on warm place, which was found many years ago. But I'm sure, that there will be lot of people, who would die because of awesomeness of this band. Full Review »

This is the heaviest rock and roll band this year. They make grunge sound modern. Each track is heavy hitting and pounds these huge riffs in your face. Productions slick, vocals are abrasive, and the sound of Metz are one in a few nowadays. All In All, Metz make a solid debut with this record. B Full Review »
