Obel's angelic mixture of bliss and anguish conjures a self-contained mood of wonderment, sorrowful and subdued.

It’s very dreamy and a bit fuzzy; but magnetic. Once pulled in, it’s hard to let go. It’s a mysterious place that seemingly offers no easy exits.

These songs are obscured like frosted glass, as meticulously pretty and faintly unnerving as a porcelain doll. Though the album ends almost as quietly as it began, Obel’s whispery ambient fog lingers far longer.

EitherOn her fourth album, Danish vocalist Agnes Obel confirms her great talent. Minimalistic music, that pulls you into a different world. Either you hate it or you love it. For me its the latter, and Myopia proves to be a great escape route for everyday life. Floats towards what the great Max Richter delivers, only much more vocal driven, with the piano and strings as supporting acts. What a pitty that her Brussels concert in march is already sold out ...
