    Katy Perry makes her debut to pop music with her debut album. While the album isn't very cohesive and is fairly generic. A lot of the songs are catchy and fun with great vocals from Perry. The album attempts to go somewhere with female empowerment, but it instead dips its toe in the idea of possibly doing so. Katy saved herself on the album with her production and unique vocals.     For me it's the most favorite Katy album. It is pretty cohesive, and has many of her signature songs, and I like her pop-rock version more than her pop (or gospel XD) version.

    Katy Perry's first album brings her better side, and totally pure and vocal just from her. Its covers, compositions and sound comes from a root that pop needed to become what it is today. She's a great artist, I get emotional in days like years after launching into seeing the pure material she came into her debut.

    This was the start o one of the legends of pop, with rock influences, this album brings me a lot of memories when it was released on 2008. Now the feeling is the same like the first time, I just wanna sing loudly all songs, Thanks to this album we have: "Hot N' Cold", "Thinking Of You", "I Kissed A Girl", and other songs that we used to hear when we were younger.

    Her debut album showed she had some talent in music, but the lyrics were actually so terrible. Most of the songs sound so loud and uncomfortable.

    The critique has a strong massacre in question of this album, however it is the most itimo album of Katy Perry. The compositions are completely 100% incredible, but the instrumental and production are not there at the peak, however for your first album this is good. I felt an incredible connection. I foresee an incredible evolution in POP.

    One of the boys has too many contractions, first it has a somewhat homophobic song and then a song where it shows to be bisexual, something that is not. But in general, it has a good debut, it is not my total pleasure, I have some doubts, but everything seems very well organized and quality for the time

    Good album overall. Contains two big hits "I Kissed A Girl" & "Hot N Cold". "If You Can Afford me" should've been 5th single. It was a good album to start a career with.

    Out of all of Perry's discography, One of The Boys is probably at the stronger end of the spectrum with Teenage Dream. The songs have a bad girl attitude with a bit of sass which can make the listen slightly less torturous. However like all Katy Perry albums, the singles are pop perfection, the album singles are awful. I Kissed a Girl is a timeless song however Mannequin we hear PerryOut of all of Perry's discography, One of The Boys is probably at the stronger end of the spectrum with Teenage Dream.     This album is a very strong debut for Perry. It's filled with versatile songs of varying subjects, and truly showcase a unique woman. While this album wasn't a take off for Katy, it is still a strong start for her and showcases her roots in musics and the battle she faced to get where she is today.

    Pop-Rock con buenas líricas, si bien algo bajo en la cuestión vocal.
    Letras divertidas, que te cuentan una historia pero a la vez tienen un ritmo pegajoso para que la canción se te quede pegada un buen rato.
    Un muy buen comienzo que le da a Perry la fama suficiente para realmente despegar con su siguiente álbum, aunque abandonando por completo este primer y buen sonido.

    Its not a cohesive album, bit the dispretentious atmosphere that involves it is memorable, beisdes it has some treasures hidden, like Self Inflicted and Fingerprints, Lost and A Cup of Coffee. If you want to hear a teen and crazy girlish Katy Perry, go listen One of the Boys album.

    this album is such an iconic debut album. "i kissed a girl" and "waking up in vegas" are BOPS. "thinking of you" is so beautiful and you can really feel her emotion when she sings it, live or studio.
    theres a lot of other songs and they are very very good and idk for me it basically screams DEBUT ALBUM!! DEBUT ALBUM!!...

    A very basic pop album. The singles are all good, yes, but the rest are so simple that you may mistake them for demo's, B-Sides and bonus tracks. The album did show potential though. Katy Perry was always going to be more than just rock-pop artist.

    Fresh and iconic. Creative, Controversial and crazy lyrics. Her debut album is a proof that she is a brave and fierce woman. She likes to have fun and break some of the rules and thats why I love her. Lost is one of my favorite songs from this album. She can sing, no doubt. I just love her.

    Um álbum com algumas músicas boas (os singles) porém os que não foram singles, são ruins,porém podemos ver claramente uma evolução para seu segundo álbum de estudio, porém nesse álbum Katy não mostrou nem um diferencial, nada novo, só algo que já existia reciclado, não é ruim, mas não é ótimo, além disso nessa época a voz da Katy não estava evoluida, não tinha uma boa respiração, porém oUm álbum com algumas músicas boas (os singles) porém os que não foram singles, são ruins,porém podemos ver claramente uma evolução para seu segundo álbum de estudio, porém nesse álbum Katy não mostrou nem um diferencial, nada novo, só algo que já existia reciclado, não é ruim, mas não é ótimo, além disso nessa época a voz da Katy não estava evoluida, não tinha uma boa respiração, porém o álbum é bom para ouvir de vez em quando, para não enjoar.… Expand

    I'm sure if critics heard this album in 2014 rather than 2008, it would be praised a lot more. The LGBT aspect of "kissing girls" turned off most critics back then. However, now that we have progressed this album would be considered outstanding. In 2008 the album was subject to bias, which was completely unfair because this is a FLAWLESS album. Perfect mixture of catchy pop tunes, andI'm sure if critics heard this album in 2014 rather than 2008, it would be praised a lot more.     This is my favourite album by Katy, but I think she can do way better than this. My favourite songs by her are unreleased gems like Wish You The Worst, Simple, Diamond. It's such a shame that she had to repress her artistry to pursue commercial success.

    It's a very cheerful album, most of her songs are fresh and well-developed lyric. Surely her voice is not a strong point but she tried to supplement it with the harmony of rhythm and lyrics. Most recommended songs are "I Kissed A Girl", "Waking Up In Vegas", "Thinking Of You" and "Hot N Cold".

    LGBT-offenders I Kissed a Girl and Ur So Gay might have promised an album that may at least be musically catchy, ONE OF THE BOYS Strives so hard to be good controversial pop, but it winds down to a forgettable set of songs.

    This is the worst album of Katy, but does not make it bad, not nearly. We have songs really tiring, but I Kissed A Girl, Hot N Cold, Thinking Of You and Waking Up In Vegas are classic and even in his first album, the best pop hitmaker managed to stick her name in the history of music.

    The only thing anyone should listen to an album like this for is escape, which the music of Katy Perry's debut provides with some catchy pop bass lines and a contagious enthusiastic spirit, but the lyrics are so rooted in frustration that it's hard to grab on. But as individual songs, guess what? Not bad. Not bad at all, Miss Perry.

Katy Perry has got a really nice voice and the sound is much more rocking than the usual (also you probably won't expect when you only heard the songs that got airplay). But there are many mistakes: She really overdoes the high- and low-singing and some songs aren't even catchy after hearing them three times.     Not as so powerful as 'Teenage Dream', the album still manages to have its pack punches with hits including 'I Kissed a Girl', 'Hot n Cold' and 'Waking Up in Vegas'. And the whole atmosphere of fashion and style in this album is fine, its just the lyrics and vocal style in some songs (for example 'Fingerprints') manage to be abit off. Overall, 'One Of the Boys' is a good teen record to have.

    I've decided to lower my rating a bit for this album. I still think it's enjoyable and fun, and it's refreshing to listen to pop music that isn't the same kind of electronic dance pop that is so common now.

    Not a huge Katy Perry fan. Her singing isn't anything spectacular, her songs are monotonous, but it's a nice attempt. Not sure why she is so famous, or what the hype about her is all about. Pass.

    Still my favorite Katy Perry album. It more personal than Teenage Dream, and has an rock edge to it. I'm still breathing remains my favorite song of all time. I hope to seem more material like this in her upcoming album.

    Simply amazing. This is the real Katy Perry! Well she still can't sing that well, and she's quite terrible live - but this album represents her. Not purely commercial Teenage Dream.

    I'd recommend it, but it's your choice. Katy Perry, with this album, creates a solid start to the beginning of her career--at least breaking away from Christian rock music. There are only a few songs, on the other hand, that you actually need on ONE OF THE BOYS, which are "I Kissed a Girl", "Waking Up in Vegas", and "Hot N Cold".

    From "One Of The Boys" to "Fingerprint" to the bonus tracks like "I Think I'm Ready", "Cup Of Coffee", "Electric Feel", and "Black & Gold" every track on this album is flawless. I really like the billboard review. At that time it had been a minute since an album was full of so many potential hits. I honestly had to pick my jaw off the ground when i saw the low 6.0 user rating on here!

    While "Hot & Cold" and "I Kissed a Girl" are excellent tracks, most of the other songs are average. Her second LP, Teenage Dream, is much more enjoyable.
