While the first album, although it's good reception, had issues with Tom Morellos guitar playing (I'm saying this as a huge fan!), he seems to have fixed this issue in a few spots on the album and that increased it's enjoyabality to a much higher level. Doesn't Remind Me and Drown Me Slowly had me rocking hard!

Out of Exile is not as good as Audioslave's self titled album but that does not make it a bad album at all. It displays a different genre of music than the first album did. Cornells vocals are the focal point on this album. He writes a lot of personal songs on Out Of Exile. The Worm mixes Cornell's personal lyrics with great guitar riffing like no other song on the album. Then of course you have several hit rock songs in Doesn't Remind Me, Your Time Has Come and Be Yourself. Out of Exile is just a classic hard rock album. I highlight Man or Animal, The Worm, Out Of Exile and Your Time Has Come. Expand

What a disappointment. The first audioslave album was just an amazing rock album, with the zeppelin and sabbath influences clearly visible. In this album...not so much. The album starts off fair enough, with a decent opening track called your time has come. then it goes to an even better title track, both keep to the bands hard rock roots. Because they're good musicians, they are able to perform this sub-par material well enough to fool the average listener into thinking they're on to something decent. And by that, I mean it had me fooled. But after enough spins I caught on; the songwriting is bland and uninspired. With all the good music out there, I can't find a good enough reason to ever play this album again.

dude, this album rocked! i loved your time has come, out of exile,be yourself, and doesn't remind me! There singles were AWESOME! but they should have made a video for Heavens Dead. That was pretty good also. I loved their soft side. But Rock Hard Revelations is even better.

Weak. Derivitive. Cheesy. Not nearly as solid or heavy as their first release. Formulaic even with Tom Morello's guitar innovation. No sign of what we loved about Rage or Soundgarden on this record. The guys are clearly getting soft in their old age.

Good album, though not as good as the debut. 'Be Yourself' is of course, the main song on the album, but it is a fairly well-rounded album. 'Number One Zero' is a fav of mine; the album is pretty awesome rock.

You can't say the songs on this album aren't composed and performed by very talented artists, with catchy tunes and nice melo beats.. but you can sense a deeper vein that this band needs to tap into and just explode instead of holding themselves back. The punch line: Good, but uninspired!

Audioslave is an incredible band, Chris Cornell is most certainly one of the best voices in rock, and the instrumentalists that back him up are the best in the business. This album proves it.

This album has no weight or rock hook to it. Yes im a huge Morrello fan but he has soft unflattering riffs.Soft and dissapointing from audioslave. I hope this is a one off poor, weak and plain unexciting album. Everything on this album is facing the emo wall and bowing its head. Mr. Chris Cornell, you are the messiah to all those who appreciate true music and art. You really know how to capture the emotions of a human being and deliver it in the most realistic of ways. You truly reach out towards all the people who share the same pains of desperation, angst, hatred and depression. Your 'always against the system' songs really nurtured the weakened souls Mr. Chris Cornell, you are the messiah to all those who appreciate true music and art. You really know how to capture the emotions of a human being and deliver it in the most realistic of ways. You truly reach out towards all the people who share the same pains of desperation, angst, hatred and depression. Your 'always against the system' songs really nurtured the weakened souls of people, telling them to rise up against tough situations and parts of their life that were downright miserable. After you closed the doors to the 'Garden of Sounds' the wiils of those souls were crushed and the pieces scattered. Those souls adapted to your lone voice some time later and felt right at home, but then your voice was lost and the same fate befell those souls again. Times have changed and so have you. Mr. Cornell, you have become the one thing that we the souls have always feared you would one day turn into; a-mindless-corporate-radio-musician who is forced to make music from the outside rather than letting it emote from within. Shame on you. Here is my little thought on (the NEW) you; "I wish I could blow up the outside world As I fell on black days The times were gone for honest men The day I tried to live But one more time around I burrowed down And blew up the outside world." Since Soundgarden and Rage (Rage fan from the beginning) split, I've been waiting for a heavy rock band to come around. To expect Audioslave to sound like either of the other bands is narrow minded. I like every track on both disks, it is only going to get better. Hopefully the generic pop/punk and pop/rock considered music will fall to the way side the more music Audioslave puts out.

Audioslave's debut, one of the best rock albums in a long time, seems to have been a one time thing. Out of Exile has sophomore slump written all over it, and every bit of it was a huge disapointment. The only reasons to get this album is the standout Be Yourself, one of their best tracks, and Out of Exile, and respectable hard rocking track. Those are, however, the only reason. The solos are more frenquent and just as bad, if worse, than the ones on their debut (which were forgiveable because the song's themselves were good). This album also almost has more ballads than rock tunes, and most of these ballads are stupid and hookless. The production on this album is also horrible. Whereas their debut flowed perfectly, Out of Exile almost feels rigid, and is way underproduced for a hard rock album. All in all, a huge disapointment. Their first album blew me away; Out of Exile is dull and very disappointing in comparison.
