  1. There's a real fire to his writing here, turning Revival into a missive as immediate, effective, and telling as Neil Young's "Living with War."
  2. 80
Reassessing the past and reengaging with the present, Revival lives up to its name.
  3. Revival is no rerun. It is Fogerty getting back to work--and finally acting on his own advice.
  4. Entertainment Weekly
Fogarty's seventh studio album shows that his soul-scarred voice and knack for killer licks remains as potent as ever. [19 Oct 2007, p.126]
  5. This album is not just a revival, but a complete rejuvenation for John Fogerty. It's easily his best solo record, and what makes it so special is that he embraces his swamp-rocking Creedence Clearwater Revival days.
  6. Like Springsteen's recent return to classic form, the album feels more continuation than reprise.
  7. From the broad, hopeful tone of opener 'Don't You Wish It Was True' to the brisk closer 'Longshot,' John Fogerty at 62 has made his toughest, best-written album since Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded in 1972.
  8. The title Revival is no hype: Fogerty is again in full command of his talent for blending heartfelt writing with irony-free meat-and-potatoes rock.
  9. Fogerty sets high standards for himself and thankfully, he has delivered an album that matches his early solo work.
  10. Fogerty's voice sounds great throughout; passionate, more committed and comfortable with these songs than he has seemed in years.

I thought it was amazing to see John Fogerty make such a strong album. He's over 60, and he sings like he's 30.

I've heard "Don't You Wish It was True?" and I think it's a great tune--but I've yet to hear the whole album. Glowing, I've heard "Don't You Wish It was True?" and I think it's a great tune--but I've yet to hear the whole album. Glowing, glorious reviews abound (as usual) from the banal crowd that must not have a musical appreciation like the rest of us: How many lousy CDs am I supposed to buy on the word of paid-by-the-industry [bad] reviewers all of whom have all their taste in their mouths? I'll buy it after I hear (all of) it. Full Review »
