May 11, 2017Simply put, this is the best dream/jangle-pop debut since the aforementioned Oshin and an absolute must for fans of this genre.
-
May 11, 2017For now, we’ve been gifted a damn fine collection of songs and we would be remiss to not soak them in.
-
May 16, 2017Throughout, though, the sound is so consistent, alluring, and distinctive that it's hard to believe that they have all three members contributing songs here.
-
May 16, 2017The versatility of core members Auscherman, Kevin Krauter, and Keagan Beresford--each of whom writes, sings, and swaps instruments--affords them chances to try on different masks, a huge strength despite some inevitable flat results.
-
Jun 19, 2017It’s a summer record if ever there was one--with even the opening track being named Sun’s Out. It’s a great introduction to the record, where a punchy snare, an uncomplicated bassline and a heat-warped guitar lick combine so easily that it takes a few of Drew Auschermann’s lyrics to be delivered before you even realize they’re there.
-
May 11, 2017As with many of the bands they take after, Hoops don’t offer a ton of variation from track to track. It’s the subtle shifts that keep Routines interesting.
-
May 11, 2017Routines isn’t an album that’s going to change the world, but it is a pretty good reminder to stop, slow down and take things in once in a while.
