Section. 80's one of the better hip hop records I've heard in awhile. I love the concept behind Kendrick's lyrics and his style and flow are so engaging. Each track tells a beautiful story with incredible production and very catchy beats. All In All, Section. 80 is a great hip hop record. B+

The album is a great introduction to one of Hip Hop's greatest. It isn't quite as extensive, meticulous or well rounded as Kendrick's best. The hooks are a bit bland and the concept is much looser. Still, Kendrick's flows, words and unique story telling ability make it obvious the best was yet to come.

Section.80 by Kendrick Lamar is a great start to his debut album. This album may not be perfect, but this album totally entertained me a lot. All of the songs on the album are fantastic. the beats are dope and the production are dope on the album. I highly recommended.

Kendrick Lamar's debut album is something special. Section.80 hould go down as one of the greatest debut albums of all time, in the same stratosphere as Illmatic, The College Dropout, etc. The album really shows Lamar's versatility and was an accurate indicator of what was going to come to us with the current king of hip hop.

Although this is almost more a mixtape than an album, you can see the rough edgded artist that would a few years later sement himself as the best artist of his generation. Some tracks are great bangers that are just fun to listen to, like RIgarmortus or Hol' Up, while some are deep tracks about the racism in America, like HiiiPower (Produced by J Cole). Great album, but one of Kendrick's weaker ones, which only says something about the quality of his discography. Expand

The project that gave many of us our first view of this incredible talent. This album is great. Only song I don't particularly care for is No Make-Up.

Best songs: HiiiPower / Ronald Reagan Era / Kush & Corinthians

Kendrick Lamar broke out with a bold and unconventional project like section. 80 which seems like quite impressive feat to me and projected early the talent that was gonna carry him to the top of

A near-flawless album with beautiful and touching subject matters, top-notch rapping, and excellent production. Although I am not a big hip-hop fan, Kendrick has given birth to one of the best albums of the decade, and must be given due credit.

A fantastic and gripping rap album. Probably my favorite rap album of 2011 and definitely in top 3 of my favs for the year. In this album, Kendrick relays intelligent verses that serve a purpose. "HiiiPower" is a fantastic track and is amazingly produced by J. Cole. "Ronald Reagen Era" also has a few great hooks. Great album and I cannot wait to hear more from this promising, young rapper.

This album or mixtape or whatever you want to call it really shows off Kendricks skills as a rapper. His lyrical ability is insane and his flow is so good. He is definitely the best rapper around today. I hope he carries on like this because hip hop needs someone like him,

Wow! TDE is taking over right now! Kendrick is just more intellectual than anything in rap currently. This defines a generation. Tammy's Song, The Spiteful Chant and Rigamortus are my favorite!

The debut studio album from Kendrick Lamar immediately shows that he can write songs that are very positive and fun, but he can also write stuff that is deep, very deep and sad. And that's why I love his music so much! He does it in a way that his music always feels alive and meaningful. Kendrick is a real treasure.

I feel like most the critics of this album only gave this an 80/100 because it’s called “Section.80”. It deserves much more praise and is one of the best debut albums of the 2010s. Some of the worse cuts on this thing such as “No Make-Up” and “The Spiteful Chant” may weigh it down slightly, however it simultaneously offers some incredible tracks such as “Rigamortus”, “Kush & Corinthians”I feel like most the critics of this album only gave this an 80/100 because it’s called “Section.80”. This album is great, there is a good reason people consider Kendrick the modern GOAT. The storytelling and music is great here, even No Makeup... I don't care what people say, that song isn't half as bad as people make it out to be. every song here is at least 8.

This album is better than average. The beats are just sometimes boring. But Kendrick is never a bad rapper. His flow here is also his best especially on chapter ten.

At first I REALLY did not like Kendrick Lamar. I listened to ADHD and Rigamortus, and I did not like either song, so I just blew him off when people told me to listen to him. Section.80 is one of the most underrated rap albums of all time. It's one of the best debut rap albums of all time, and Kendrick Lamar didn't miss even a tad bit with this one.

The first time I heard Kendrick was on Overly Dedicated, and while at first I had a hard time getting into it because of his weird flow. Looking back, I realized just how good it was. Looking back, I realized just how good it was. Maybe I needed something like Section.80 to come along and help me with that. Section.80 is not only a very well executed project, it is more brave in its subject matter than most MC's who claim they're from the hood. Kendrick takes jabs at society on songs like Your Ethnicity, A.D.H.D., Ronald Reagan Era and HiiiPoWeR. And each song brings up topics that are so intriguing you want to hear more. Both Tammy's Song and Keisha's Song are tales of women who are caught in hard situations such as unfaithful relationships to getting involved in prostitution in order to survive. And yet for an independent release, this album sounds very expensive. Most of the production comes from Digi+Phonics but there's a few other contributions from THC, Terrace Martin and even J. Cole (who's beat on HiiiPoWeR is the best one on the album). If I were to have a single solitary gripe it's that the choruses are a bit weak. Kendrick needs to improve on that in future releases. But overall, this album was fantastic and my favorite release of 2011. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Section.80 is Kendrick Lamar's debut project, and he starts off with a bang. Introducing his clever lyricism in a story-like fashion, Kendrick opens up the door to both unique beats and incredible flows. He also has a lot to say in this project, touching on themes like drug abuse, institutionalization, and gang culture. There are some missteps in this project, such as songs that don't make sense sonically, but conceptually this is an excellent project along with a ton of insightful tracks and unique instrumentation.

Favorite Tracks: F*ck Your Ethnicity, Hol' Up, A.D.H.D, Chapter Six, Ronald Reagan Era, Rigamortus, Kush & Corinthians, Ab-Souls Outro, HiiiPower

Least Favorite Tracks: No Make-Up (Her Vice), Tammy's Songs (Her Evils), Blow My High (Members Only)
