The great majority of Stand Still, Look Pretty is tuneful, tastefully rootsy, and quite engaging country-pop.
-
This is a solid, sturdy set of songs befitting their rootsy-but-not-exactly-honky-tonk settings.
-
70Solid songs all, delivered with a muscular vocal conviction that does considerably more than merely sell them.
-
Great country needs the grit that is missing here. [26 May 2006, p.106]
-
60At times you wish Branch and Harp would dig deeper. [Jun 2006, p.149]
-
50A thoroughly dull collection of acoustic-based country-rock ballads you could hear at any local open-mike night.
-
Really, all there is to be said about The Wreckers is that, in playing country star dress-up, they're reasonably pleasant and inoffensive, which puts them a bit ahead of a good deal of what's currently popular in country music.
