Overall, Starry Mind finds P.G. Six beefed up and just starting to hit its stride.

Though they're written to sound simple on the surface, PG Six's songs reveal an unusually high level of artistry on closer inspection. [Sep 2011, p.62]

Though there were hints of branching out before, none were ever as intrepid as the songs presented on Starry Mind, making Gubler's music something to surely take note of.

The songs themselves, even when they are not traditional folk songs, share some of the time-worn general-ness of the folk genre. You do not, very often, feel that you are glimpsing directly into Gubler's psyche.

The songwriting is more disciplined, and the arrangements and production are tighter. Together they create a seamless but welcome change in aesthetic direction.

Rich and rewarding, Starry Mind will be worth the wait for those who were hip to P.G. Six before, and for newcomers, it's a worthy introduction.
