    this album is perfection . it shows her artistic growth and how she is switching up her sound for the better . i was slightly unsure wether i’d like it as much as i like her pop music but this album is 10x better than her 3 previous albums . go listen to it , it’s a major grower if you didn’t lkle it from the start (how could you not like it tho)

    Ariana really delivered her best album yet! It’s so refreshing to see her break away from her usual sound and try something new and it certainly paid off! Full of bops like Breathin, Everytime & the title track, truly one of the best albums of 2018 so far

    This album is so powerful & fun . Its a mixture of r&b and pop which is why i love it more ! and also this has different flavours to it . Every song is so unique and beautiful in their own ways . Considering this as one of her BEST album ever :)

    Favorite album yet by her!! she experimented so much with her sound and pharrell definitely was the producer she needed to help her get out of her shell. Going from pop anthems like "No tears left to cry" "God is a woman" "breathin" "everytime" to dreamy mid-tempo songs "get well soon" "better off" "r.e.m" to the sultry 2000s r&b inspired banger "borderline"

Her vocal still on point in several tracks, and Pharrell gave many spectrum track by track, giving different taste, even though he already boasted those tunes not long ago (in Pharrell's previous project). For the impact, Ariana redeemed her vocal for the sake of production, and in return, we reminded how good her vocal is, compared to theBrave move from Ariana to work with Pharrell. This album goes 100% personal , it's all about her and not about trying to follow trends. Most of Pharrell's productions work, they sound fresh , diffrerent. Others such as Blazed could have a more dynamic production and a stronger hook.     This album is 100% non formulaic , personal , fresh and deserved to be her best.

    this album is a masterpiece. the songs are stuck in my head, sound amazing, vary in styles but remain cohesive & i felt a strong connection w the album - especially get well soon and breathin which were the two best tracks.

    her best album to date... she has tried out a new style and has bodied it, she didn’t make a dangerous woman part two she made a COMPLETELY new album. my favourite songs so far are breathin, everytime and get well soon, i love the tribute to manchester at the end of get well soon and it touches my heart because i attended the concert. she has outdone herself. ‪♡‬

    This album is excellent. Not only does it exude a new bolstering confidence throughout the 15 new tracks, but it further reiterates the fact that Ariana's unique blend of trap, pop and R&B is (and has remained) unmatched. Recording Academy will be definitely eyeing this up for album of the year nominee (along with Black Panther OST, Dirty Computer and Reputation).

    Great album by a great artist. Even though the first listen is weird, the more you listen the better it gets. At least she explores new sounds, not as most of the singers of her generation, who are stuck in the same EDM/Pop sound.

    This is her best album! It is filled with creative R&B tracks with Missy Elliot.. I love Pharell's production! Defintely album of the year contender! LLA: Long Live Ariana! I hope she makes more music like this and not like Dangerous Woman-My Everything

    Ariana told us to expect the unexpected, and **** she was right! I'm so pleasantly surprised with the songs on this album and can't really say which one I would skip. She's explored so many different topics and feelings and sounds with this in a way that's so much more established to her previous albums and it's definitely a lot more cohesive which is something I felt DW lacked. One song that's really surprised me is Successful. I'd have expected it to be this huge girl power anthem but it's more of a light, bubbly, playful track. I still find it effective in empowering because not all empowerment songs need to scream at you that you're worth it and amazing, this is more of a "note to self" type of song and the chorus is the one thing thats been ringing in my ears more than any other track since I first listened to the album 6 hours ago. I also find the backing track makes me think a lot of Animal Crossing in a delightful way, it's just so adorable. I have yet to determine a Top 5 but I know for sure that Better Off has earned a spot. In my mind it's familiar to works by Imogen Heap, which makes it fitting that this song is followed by Goodnight n Go which samples one of her songs. It's definitely the most melancholic song on the album and is definitely something a lot of people can relate to with at least one relationship they go through in their lifetime. Overall she has done me so proud with this one and she's incorporated all of the things on my wishlist of what the other three albums lacked which was the maturity in Yours Truly, the overuse of collabs and not exploring any topics other than sex on My Everything, and the absence of cohesiveness in Dangerous Woman. And props to her as her vocals improve every album, she becomes more and more effortless as time goes on.… Expand

    This is for sure her best album. She experienced with her sound and created something so special. Her flawless voice makes the record stunning as always but the lyrics and different beats of the songs compliment it so well making it a pop masterpiece at its finest.

    After the beautiful acapella opener 'raindrops', "Sweetener" starts to find Grande experimenting with broader sounds than she did with her previous projects, teaming up with Pharrell Williams to create urban trap/hip-hop productions that turn out to not always work for her: 'blazed' for instance is so dull and monotonous, 'the light is coming' with Nicki Minaj, even though a grower, is nevertheless the weakest collaboration the two artists released, the title-track feels like a three-tracks-in-one all-over-the-place mess, and 'successful' is forgettable and doesn't live up to its title. However, not all the Pharrell-assisted tracks are a miss: the closer, 'get well soon' is a beautiful rendition to the Manchester terrorist attack and to the fans, and it sounds like it could fit perfectly on her debut, "Yours Truly".

    What is very noticeable about this record, is that its second half is way better than its first. The album truly starts to shine when Ariana ditches the trappy experimental sounds, and goes back to her power-pop gems with tracks like 'breathin', 'God is a woman' (which is one of the absolute best tracks Grande has ever released), and 'everytime'. She gets vulnerable on other highlight 'better off' and puts her beautiful pipes to use on the beautiful 'goodnight n go'.

    "Sweetener" may not live up to the greatness of "Dangerous Woman", which will forever stand as the pinnacle in Grande's career, but it sure has a bunch of songs to not be slept on.    … Expand

    a beautiful enigma of r&b and pop. i was left speechless and in tears! truly her most mature album, i am so impressed. she really came to tell her story. it has such a different, unique sound. it is nothing like the pop hits she has released in past eras, and that is definitely not a bad thing!

If you think you don't like this album, just listen to it again. it will take some time to grow on you. This album covers sensitive topics and serves amazing vocals.     Her best album! I don't understand the hate it's receiving, it's a great album. I do think Pharrell's work is a bit messy but there are other songs on the album which are better.

I loved that in 'get well soon' she left 40 seconds of remembrance time for the victims who were lost in the tragic event on 5/22 (which is howsuch an amazing album, all songs are great to listen to which is different from her past albums where there would be some songs that would be skipped.     I loved Ariana's fourth album “ Sweetener” it’s so mature and full of new sounds for her. If you didn’t like her because she was “screaming” all the time well this is the album you might wanna hear. You can tell that this album was made to make people happy and not remind them about dark and sad days. Her best album yet. Buy it on iTunes and stream it on Spotify and Apple Music.

    Such a masterpiece. It is Ariana's fourth studio album and I appreciate she has made them all different.
    Sweetener is really light and catchy and you just want to listen to it for all day.

    Ariana doesn't use the same formulaic materials to make an album, she explores different sound and avenues to create new music. It's absolutely amazing to see her grow from pure pop to more of an R&B sound, but still keep it fresh with her timeless vocals.

    Stop putting your effort on degrading this album, pressed fans of other artists. This album is not the conventional pop sound and that's what I love most about Ariana. She always explore and experiment new sounds and not cling to what the general public wants her to be. This album is gonna be legendary, and I can smell the grammys.

    this album is so empowering. the lyrics are beautifully composed, it makes you FEEL. this is a huge jump forward in Grande's discography. the production is simply genius. not to mention the singles. this a great piece of art. 10/10

    Grande’s new sound, the Williams-produced Not-Bangers, only make up half of the album. These standout tracks are interspersed between standard pop tracks. ... That’s not to say that the Bangers on Sweetener are bad--it’s more that they belong in previous era of Grande and they spoil the flow between songs. Sweetener may not be the dawning of a new age for Ariana but it could be a step towards somewhere weird and wonderful.

While a few guest vocalists (Mr. Williams, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott) provide a little grit for contrast, Ms. Grande sails above any fray, past or present. Her aplomb is her triumph.
