While the change in the band's output is not revolutionary, its subtle shift proves fruitful. [Jul 2019, p.37]

Swimmers is a flowing, peaceful listen that doesn't need to be broken into small bits; it works best as a unified 35-minute diversion from the stress and struggle of the daily grind.

It struggles to impart much buoyant energy, with individual songs tending to sink into soporific mass of breathy vocals and mellow riffs. [Aug 2019, p.116]

Younghusband's new record shows the band can turn out a great sounding bunch of songs and the odd moment of brilliance. If they spent longer letting their songs grow before unleashing them they might have produced something more distinctive.

The songs here are elegantly crafted, and keenly constructed, but there is absolutely nothing on the record that you haven’t heard – done better - elsewhere. Your enjoyment of the album will depend entirely on just how much soft-focus, meandering indie music you can stomach.
