  1. A glorious union of Gedge's romantic past and his latter-day pursuit of lust.
  2. The band's return to the name might initially smack of a desperate reunion, but it's more than just symbolic: With Take Fountain, The Wedding Present reclaims its place as a thoroughly convincing vessel for pop heartache and joy.
  3. Uncut

Gedge hasn't sounded this belligerently broken-hearted since 1987's "My Favourite Dress." [Mar 2005, p.100]
  4. New Musical Express (NME)
    80
There's little musically that will startle the faithful or convert the doubtful, but the Present's gift was always for words. [12 Feb 2005, p.51]
  5. Mojo

As eloquent an emotional discourse as [Gedge] has mustered. [Mar 2005, p.101]
  6. Under The Radar
    80
It's clearly not the best The Wedding Present have done, but it far exceeds anything they wrote after '92. [#9]
  7. Take Fountain is a solid Wedding Present album, one that will satisfy those who have been following Gedge all along.
  8. On Take Fountain Gedge uses his sharpened songwriting chops to present his case and again proves himself a master of the pop song. It’s just that sometimes it feels like routine.
  9. Take Fountain... does little to expand on the formulaic offerings their followers have released. Instead, the album risks running itself into a dead end it creates, all on its own.
  10. The result is a lot like Elvis Costello's periodic returns to rock territory: snappy genre exercises from a reliable songwriter, but not much more.
  11. All too often, this new material fails to leave much of an impression.

Best thing David Gedge has done since "Va Va Voom"; and one of the best Weddoes albums. Bravo!
