  1. For listeners of any act from Miwon to M83 to Dominik Eulberg, Boratto’s work is exemplary of seasoned musicianship and refreshing unpredictability in sound, and these sleek, ceiling-scraping missives are almost too grand--ingest small, careful servings and repeat as needed.
  2. Take My Breath Away is a heavily populated but still carefully fashioned landscape, never feeling crowded and skipping effortlessly between lush ambience and driving techno.
  3. 80
Boratto’s focus remains on approaching the line of excess without tipping over. And once again he stays on the wire.
  4. What I am here to do is to point you in the direction of Take My Breath Away, Boratto’s exceptionally crafted new album.
  5. Take My Breath Away is a techno album, and it will probably be listened to either by people who know what they’re getting into or anonymously at a bar on the Lower East Side.
  6. One gets the sense, however, that in acknowledging where his inspirations came from and figuring out where his compositions will go on Take My Breath Away, he's misplaced the present tense and the once-present tension.
  7. Take My Breath Away begins expansively, but rather than proving to be a promising start the opening track turns out, in fact, to be the highlight.
  8. But from the stridently Floydian gravitas of its cover to the ponderous, tolling piano notes that close the album, Take My Breath Away finds Boratto straining uncomfortably to make some kind of serious statement.
  9. Uncut

This follow-up tries too hard to prolong the high. [Apr 2009, p.80]
  10. This may work as a singles record, but it lacks the depth to hold much interest.

I absolutely love techno, house, ... SONGS. I usually don't like very much albums with these styles, I get easily bored. But this one has a lot of variations, it's really good. Standout tracks: "Take My Breath Away", "Opus 17" and "Ballroom". Full Review »
