Calmer and a bit moodier than the debut, it finds the two bringing out things in their sounds that hadn’t really been there before. ... Combined, the two EPs make a warm and well-rounded album with two distinct sides.

From the opening pensive, repetitive reverbed guitar washes of “Doris” where Bridges works wonders with his Marvin Gaye inflected falsetto, to the closing easy groove of “Mariella,” this is a near-perfect meeting of minds.

Every track on Texas Moon is a moment of catharsis, delivered with as much swagger as spirituality.

The five tracks on Texas Moon play more naturally to both artists’ strengths and come together to form a more fruitful and distinct collaborative statement.

Throughout five mesmerizing tracks, Texas Moon invites listeners into that special world. It’s a world where time moves at a delicate pace and where that classic American road trip detours through the scenic route.

Released almost exactly two years after that EP [Texas Sun], Texas Moon is spacier and a little moodier, and Bridges' writing this time gets as personal and spiritual as it does in his solo work.

Not a sequel as much as the photographic negative to Texas Sun, the EP is a collaboration that works best when it accents each group, finding something neither touch on their own. It can struggle for takeoff, but at times it channels Chaka Khan & Rufus in a hidden wink, a kiss, and the smoothed edges of a desert night.

A delightful mix of sounds and words. Mellow, helping to dream. Very good job from this band and Leon Bridges.

Leon Bridges & Khruangbin come together yet again, to prove that their huge success on "Texas Sun" was not a fluke. This time however, we are greeted with a much gentler, much more toned back sound, as the name might suggest....

I find it pretty awesome that these two unlikely Texas Bands, come together to create a truly beautiful and complimentary collaboration.

    I'm giving this one a LIGHT 8
