Town Burned Down is a record made possible by youthful anger, but it’s not too hot-headed for its own good. Had this album been released in 1990 following its original recording, I reckon it would have a place among the decade’s best country-adjacent albums.

Town Burned Down is a vital document of the early formulations of one of the most the singularly vital turn-of-the-century bands, a shrine to the Truckers’ indignant beginnings that sounds more at home today than it must have nearly 30 years ago.

Remastering these original recordings not only unmoors these songs from that particular era in rock history but also sharpens the band's attack and showcases each player's contribution to Adam's House cat's unruly sound. [Nov 2018, p.45]
