Everything about this album is perfect. Hell to the liars is definitely the highlight of this sophomore album by London Grammar.

Too much reverb on her voice, and everything sounds the same.
Perfect for filling your livingroom, quiet evening, glass of wine or tea. Creates nice atmosphere. Emotional.
If you focus on details, there's almost nothing interesting. Just let it flow.
    Slightly mixed feelings.
In it's own way its good, but trying to be objective 6.5/10

London Grammar's Truth is a Beautiful Thing takes the indie vibes and multi-layered lyrics from their first album and adds a cinematic - sometimes even orchestral - element, which serves to further augment Hannah's angelic voice. That being said, her vocal performance is put forward as a centerpiece even more often than before - most evident by the lead track, Rooting for You.

Despite some sub-optimal track placement, Truth is a Beautiful thing presents a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience. I thoroughly recommend the Deluxe edition - some of the tracks there are amongst my favourites.

London Grammar used their wonderful harmonic palate and soft sonic experimentation to bring true life and individuality to each song, only missing knockout charismatic melodic lines that would’ve launched this work into greatness. My Score: 141/180 (Solid) = 7.8/10

Can't believe someone could do such a masterpiece, the album is completely beautiful, from the lyrics to the rhythm, each song tells a different story, but still having cohesion with the other songs.
Hell to the liars is the most amazing song I've ever heard. 10/10

Music that moves the soul, and a real step up from their first album. Stunning vocals, and atmospheric sounds from the band. I can't wait to see them when they tour Australia later this year!

This album is definitely a grower. The first time I listened to it, I was a bit underwhelmed. The music is a lot less "pop" than their first album, and the songs aren't as catchy. But now I'm realizing that this is just a different, more mature musical direction for London Grammar, and I really dig it.

First off, let me start by saying that Hannah Reid is an amazing vocalist. She is literally the backbone of this band, and I could listen to her sing for hours. One of the big differences I've noticed between this album and the last is that this one puts much more of an emphasis on her vocals, which is a really smart decision.

Somewhat disappointingly, there aren't really any standout tracks like there were on If You Wait, but the overall quality is still surprisingly high. I wouldn't say there are any bad songs on this album (including the first 3 tracks on the deluxe edition). The songs are all sort of long, melancholy, and midtempo. It's definitely a lower energy album than some might prefer, but I like that the music seems more mature, and it's really, really good mood music. So even though I wasn't much into it after the first listen, I've found myself coming back to it and really enjoying the atmosphere it creates.

Overall, this is a solid effort from London Grammar. It's not quite the album I was expecting, but it manages to push the band forward musically while still retaining some of the elements that drew me to them in the first place.

I get emotion when I listen. I feel the music... Wonderful. The softness of this album reminds me of a sweet melancholy, something sore and happy. It is not something you can digest listening only once. I really loved it.

I was waiting for this 2nd album for so long. I was really hyped by the single "Big Picture" and I'm not disappointed. This album is really great, Hannah's voice is still gorgeous and the music are awesome too.

The bona-fide future-classic ‘Oh Woman Oh Man’, the soft-focused but laser-guided balladry of ‘Hell To The Liars’ and ‘Rooting For You’, and the title track are as good as anything on their debut--and in ‘Non Believer’, they may well have written their finest song yet.

If there's any downside, it's that their sophomore album doesn't do anything to distinguish itself from its predecessor. But you know what? When you write songs that are just as strong as your past work, evolution is less of a necessity. If it's not broken, don't fix it.

While it's an overall relaxing experience, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing is never boring; it's a comforting and often heartbreaking listen that really gets under the skin, especially with Reid's emotive delivery.
