This is what the whole record has managed to capture; that truth is indeed a beautiful thing, and it is explored with vulnerability and grace wholeheartedly.
  2. There are ballsy moments--they just happen to be coated in the trio’s signature icy cool.

This is a beautiful album that’s as absorbing as it is emotionally affecting.

There are moments of heart-stopping beauty throughout, as well as a newfound optimism that propels the songs to swelling heights.

While it's an overall relaxing experience, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing is never boring; it's a comforting and often heartbreaking listen that really gets under the skin, especially with Reid's emotive delivery.

It’s pleasant enough, though listeners may experience a twinge or two of deja vu.

She pirouettes into the upper echelons of her register during Rooting for You, conveying the affection and apprehension contained in the line 'you’re the only thing I’ve ever truly known'. The low scoops on Hell to the Liars are another, as if Reid’s digging in her heels to stand firmly against 'the righteous ones'. But these are rare instances of genuine feeling amongst what otherwise feels like palatable but empty theatrics.

That being said, her vocal performance is put forward as a centerpiece even more often than before - most evident by the lead track, Rooting for You.

Despite some sub-optimal track placement, Truth is a Beautiful thing presents a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience. I thoroughly recommend the Deluxe edition - some of the tracks there are amongst my favourites.

Too much reverb on her voice, and everything sounds the same.
Perfect for filling your livingroom, quiet evening, glass of wine or tea.
