By no means is this debut original, but the hooks are sharp enough and the no-Frills, overdub-free presentation shreds hard enough that it doesn't really need to be. [No. 108, p.59]

It strikes you that the band’s songwriting, Battle’s vocal command, and the musical muscle is effortlessly melded. Which then has you heading back to the beginning of the record and realizing they’d hooked you from that very first tune.
  3. It’s far grubbier and more riotous than any high school musical.

Tweens pulls no punches, though; this is basic music and these are basic words expressing basic emotions.

It's a gorgeously facetious record that succinctly sums up a breadth of adolescent issues; this is the kind of record you'd play when you 'rents were out, or when you've just been dumped, or when your younger sibling got you into trouble and you're sulking.

Tweens may be a little uneven, but its successes and opportunities for growth make it a promising start.

Don’t rock up to this one expecting some life-changing epoch. Just roll with the punches.

Battle doesn’t have Jemina Pearl’s charisma, and Tweens aren't as adept or distinct as BYOP in terms of their P.O.V.

There is nothing radical or particularly daring about this stuff.
