  1. He's a better vocalist and more charismatic than most of the dullards who followed in his wake--but this is still deliberately tepid music, more concerned about appearances than hooks or drama.

    Rossdale still has that sexy catch in his throat, but his new songs are ass, evoking a mealy-mouthed, cliché-ridden, bombastic Chris Cornell solo joint more than Bush, and whoever Auto-Tuned the vocals has some explaining to do.
  3. Rossdale's heart is in the grim, grandiose stuff, bellowing his pain in Vedderian rumble, and forever striving to be deep and meaningful, a goal that exceeds his gifts as a songwriter.
  4. Wanderlust is instantly forgettable.

    More vapid than Bush, which is a pretty mean feat. Hats off, Mr. Rossdale.

    This is a good record. This would be a mediocre Bush record at best, but it's a Gavin Rossdale solo cd. The hooks are This is a good record. The chord progressions are a bit trite (hence my 8), but the production masks them with such an airy soundscape that I don't even mind after repeated listens. Full Review »
