Dec 4, 2020Taking everything that’s brilliant about Yungblud and amplifying it, album two is Harrison at his most extreme. It’s exactly where he belongs, too. Yungblud’s never seemed more inspiring or vital as he proves himself as one of the most important rock stars around. ‘weird!’ really is wonderful.
-
Dec 4, 2020Weird! is his most crunchy and sonically streamlined work to date, replete with catchy earworm hooks and meaty singalong choruses.
-
Jan 20, 2021Overall, Weird! is an energetic breath of fresh air that doesn't sacrifice heart or a hopeful, supportive message, adding another jewel to Yungblud's crown as princeling of the outcast masses.
-
Dec 4, 2020A rallying cry for alt-pop insurgency, at its over-sharing best ‘WEIRD!’ firmly places YUNGBLUD as a dazzling Catherine wheel of Top 40 deviancy.
-
Dec 4, 2020Weird!’s eclecticism frequently threatens to overwhelm. ... Where Yungblud is consistent is his lyrics.
-
Dec 17, 2020His second album, Weird!, feels like an ode to his audience of self-identified misfits, but it isn’t as boundary-pushing as his look—and too often, it’s a shallow imitation of more popular songs you’re already tired of. Pop-punk isn’t dead, but Yungblud’s charm gets buried.
-
Dec 7, 2020Ultimately, Harrison has very definitely found an audience, but many of these Gen Z themes are being explored more creatively elsewhere.
-
Dec 4, 2020Weird! is a collection of good moments disappointingly hidden under an avalanche of sugar.
