The most visceral tune may be the agoraphobia slam of "Black Paint," but the most interesting development is album's closer "Disappointed," which sounds like the hocketing of Dirty Projectors interpreted by a hardcore band.

Tracks run the usual gamut, aggregating pop references and stylistic tropes from the entire history of hiphop, rock, punk, techno and their esoteric subgenres, and assembling them into a harrowing Frankenstein that’s more sardonic than revelatory. [Sep 2018, p.50]

This is one of the most consistently amazing albums I have listened to since Death Grip's breakout release, the Money Store. While that albumThis is one of the most consistently amazing albums I have listened to since Death Grip's breakout release, the Money Store. While that album was catchy and had awesome hip hop noise influenced noise instrumentals, this album just goes places that I didn't know Death Grips could go to. The flow from track to track is incredible, the jazz fusion of The Fear. The weakest track is Little Richard, and even then it isn't very bad. Black Paint is another favorite with it's roaring drums and guitars. Just an all around amazing album. Full Review »
