Not great at all. A lot of the songs are bland, repetitive & boring with nothing really to offer. The best songs are by Dua Lipa & Charlie XCX. I have nothing really else to add. I didn't really go in expecting much anyway.

A few hits, but far too many forgettable misses.

Highlights with high quality production include Dance the Night by Dua Lipa and Choose Your Fighter by Ava Max; perhaps because they don't sound forced to fit inside the Barbie world. There are a few pleasant easy-listening tracks: Hey Blondie by Dominic Fike and Silver Platter by Khalid. If bubble gum pop is what you're looking for

There are a few pleasant easy-listening tracks: Hey Blondie by Dominic Fike and Silver Platter by Khalid. If bubble gum pop is what you're looking for Barbie World by Fifty Fifty will likely fit the bill, harking back to the early 2000s Britney sound.

The opening track by Lizzo is just bland and unimaginative for such a normally catchy artist.. Even Barbie World by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice seems incredibly predictable with the same rapping you've already heard a thousand times and the Aqua sample being only thing that breathes any life into this track. The lamenting What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish is so slight and underwhelming as to barely exist.

As the soundtrack for one of the biggest "event" movies of the year and with such a high calibre of artists, this is a weak collection of 17 tracks. [5/17 = 3.4]

Many times, by it's very nature, “Barbie: The Album” suffers from excessive impersonality, in tracks that fall by the wayside. Some will say that Billie Eilish's existential ballad, “What was I made for?”, would be the record's dissonant not, but who would expect anything else from the singer? She may even give that chill at Barbie's party, but she's beautiful and suited to the plot. With huge artists such as Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice, and Billie Eilish you go into this album knowing it'll be full of fun upbeat bops and deep meaningful songs. Pink by Lizzo was a really fun song and really fit the movie in the particular scene it was made for, Speed Drive by Charli XCX is another example of fitting the moment perfectly. Barbie Album is a discomfort, happy yet disappointed somehow. Like I like the Ice Spice song Barbie World with Queen Nicki Minaj and the PinkPanterness song Angel a cute song and Home by Haim. I well appreciate Billie Eillish she's still making a great songs though. However some of the song I didn't well enjoy that much or I don't like it at all. Like the Speedrive by Charli XCX or the Barbie Dreams by FiftyFifty and Kalii. Kalii gurl I love u and your Area Codes but the song your new made is mess. Dua Lipa's song "Dance The Night" is a very pretty pop song but I don't know I'm not vibing it all. Maybe I need time but it's not a terrible song either like the Barbie Dream or the Speedrive. "I'm m Just Ken" by Ryan Gosling my boo, what's the production in the middle of ur song. I kind of shock but anyway somehow good song yet I don't like at all. "Pink" by Lizzo is okay for me, no comment. "Butterflies" by Gayle and "Choose Your Fighter" by Ava Max is a mess. Sorry sweeties but I don't fan of this song. The rest that I didn't mention is you know what I'm talking y'all . Expand

Barbie: The Album is a celebration as colorful and uplifting as the movie itself, and both are highly recommended.

The only dud is GAYLE’s ‘butterflies’, which does nothing more than showcase the record’s corporate origins. Sampling a Y2K hit would have surely looked good on paper at some point; in reality it’s a confused mish-mash of sounds, the sample appearing as an add-on, the newcomer without the star power of her peers here to hint lyrically at anything of note. That aside, life in plastic does indeed sound fantastic.

We get some huge heavy hitters who do very good-to-great work. But the record sinks into pink slush during the so-so-filler tracks. Although there are some fantastic high points and some tacky low points, Barbie: The Album still manages to pull through with a cheeky victory, even if it’s qualified.
