Collector is clever, catchy and addictive, and gets better with repeat plays. You can only imagine he and Disq know exactly what they’re doing.

With songs as good as these, there’s no need to grow up and stop slacking off.

With lyrics that simmer with self-awareness serving as the record’s backbone, the obvious points of comparison are Parquet Courts and Car Seat Headrest, but the idiosyncrasies that really make ‘Collector’ tick feel as if they’re all Disq’s own, from the subtle subversions of pop and rock tropes to the wry-beyond-their-years witticisms at every turn.

The songs that do make up Collector are packed with interesting guitar tones, an intuition for pop magic and a message that should be shouted from the rooftops.

Disq's Collector offers a stellar debut that delivers on most of the promise of its early singles. If the blaring guitars, chaotic edge, and sharp pop sensibilities of Disq's advance singles brought you to the band, there will be a lot to enjoy here. While some of the album cuts falter, Collector is still an intriguing debut and makes me excited for what Disq will do next.

The direct intimacy with Slone’s inner-thoughts, witnessed both in terms of its creative flourishes and depressive ramblings, is also indicative of this vividly local feature. It'll be the challenge of managing this aesthetic as they continue to grow, especially following the release of such an excellent record, that could prove central as to where they head next.

Whether the band chose to do so to demonstrate their virtuosity, or merely their indecisiveness, has yet to be shown. Regardless, Collector is inspiring in its scale and complexity.

Collector feels a bit uneven at times, but in the end Disq has enough attitude and smart ideas to keep things exciting.

The new band from Wisconsin seems to be having a lot of fun with their music. There's a good balance between seriousness, nostalgia, energy, and sensibility. Even though I don't consider them to succeed in intensity or creativity, "Collector" es good enough to call the interest of Indie-Rock, Post-Punk, and Power Pop people. The energy with which the band plays is easily contagious and the lyrics invite people to sing. The fun and the dynamic between the band and their instruments provoke a generally entertaining, fun, and emotive album.
