A great album. It's amazing to see how there are a lot of people who gave it '0' or '2-3', its a clear signal that Oasis still bothers many people over the world, just to love them or hate them. Still one of the best bands in the world.

This is a class album that takes time to grow on you. It doesn't smack you in the face like Morning Glory but then very few albums from anybody have. With 3 or 4 listens you start to really appreciate the musical gems present here like the piano in 'Love like a Bomb' or the harmonica on the otherwise uninvolving 'Mucky Fingers', which is probably the hardest song to warm to here. Unusually, the single 'Lyla' is probably the best track (that just tells you how good it is) but 'Turn Up The Sun' is a typically fabulous opener, 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel' is the best song Liam has ever written by miles, and 'Let There Be Love' is simply beautiful with Liam's best vocal in years. The musical craftsmanship of this song and also 'The Importance Of Being Idle' highlights best the departure this album has made but it's all good, which is the main thing. 'Part of the Queue' is a Noel classic anthem but while 'Keeping the Dream Alive' and 'A Bell Will Ring' are good songs in their own right, I think they will ultimately be forgotten. Overall, a great effort from Oasis 2005. Expand

Noel is in supperb form with the importance of being idle and part of the queue his best songs since don't look back in anger. Turn up the sun, wriiten by Andy, is a great opener and gives the album a good structure. Mucky fingers sounds sounds awful initially, but it really does grow and gives the album a different dimension. The stand out track though is written by Liam!!! The Meaning of soul is just magnificent. Liam sings it like he's high on e's whilst tring to play the guitar with a chain saw. He also writes love like a bomb its like the follow up to beautiful songbird. With Liam showing such potential it makes oasis future look very bright indeed. The album closes with a real potential anthum let there be love, noel and liams first significant duet since acquiesce. A gret ending to an album which stands tall as one the since coldplays parachutes. It shouldn't be compared to whats the story or definately maybe it should be judged on its own merits. It will certainly be an interesting summer war between oasis and coldplay. Don't believe the truth certainly has the edge musically over x&y let the battle of the worlds best live acts commence. I want to apologize. Here's the deal, as though you don't already know how these things go... One good album, one great album. Then we sort of fell asleep in the van, on the plane, whatever. Then we sort of fell asleep in the van, on the plane, whatever. The food was good, we were able to take advantage of our label's generosity - tantrums, pharmacy problems, infighting between my brother and I. "Opportunity knocks, but rarely lingers", my friends. Years after our early successes we were ready to take names and work hard. By that time, we were like a half-assembled version of the Dead post Garcia. There were no longer names engraved on our dressing rooms, just NG written on duct tape. We realised that we'd chased the dragon to the end of the line. And yet - there were still all these receipts lying around, waiting for payment. The record you will invariably and blindly purchase is the sum of that singular ambition - to pay the bills. I apologize, we may do better next time. It really doesn't matter, I guess. I am, however, really digging the new Spoon album - buy that and experience some really great music - just like we used to make! Wow, what a treat! Expand

They were clearly in their prime then, but saw as their dominance proved all too stoppable and watched their steady decline from "Standing On The Shoulder of Giants" and beyond. It sounded as though Oasis, well, were beginning to plagiarize themselves and became increasingly conventional to their approach. Now, it can be very easy to be apologetic to them and really forgive them after the mediocre efforts of "Heathen Chemistry" and such, but they still seem to be trapped in the woods. "Lyla" is a rather weak lead single that doesn't really make justice of some of the album's three strong numbers: "Guess God Thinks I'm Abel", "The Meaning of Soul" and "Part of the Queue", which, unfortunately, are all sized up together in the middle of the record. But other numbers like "Love Like A Bomb", "The Importance Of Being Idle", "Keep The Dream Alive" and the closing track "Let There Be love" come off as rather unconvincing and fail to both incite or mold the psychedelic spirt of the band. Oasis has every right not to believe the truth, but the truth is, they still are having a bit of difficulty locating where their whim de-railed along the way. Expand

I'm sure he's eagerly anticipating the next rockin releases of Rufus Wainwright and Boy George. This is a good "Playlouder.com" might be the most worthless website of all time! Before they knock a band they should update there website. It looks like it was put together by bunch of retarded chimps on smack. Luke Turner is, no doubt, the most pointless rock scribe on the Internet. I'm sure he's eagerly anticipating the next rockin releases of Rufus Wainwright and Boy George. This is a good record - Not the best - But for a band that has been at it for this long, it works. It's certainly a better record compared to any 90's dinosaur (Pearl Jam anyone). If you see Luke Turner, punch him in the face. Personally, I hope he gets hit by a truck. Expand

Listenable tracks are scarce on this album. Songs like "Mucky Fingers" or "Meaning of soul" are a joke. They should've split at least 5 years ago...

Critics and haters miss the point. Oasis are the last of a dying breed. The last of the true British Invasion worshipers. Come on now, would you really rather listien to melodic ballads of Sytem of a Down or the rockin bad boy antics of Dave Mathews? Excuse me while I go pass gas...

I'm not an Oasis fan and have a various musictaste ranging from Arcade Fire to Brian Eno, and I have to say, this album is too good to be true! **** all those narrow minded Oasis-haters, just because it's Oasis they review this album bad but if you take a listen to this you know this is the perfect rock 'n roll album with 11 good tracks on it. As good as Morning Glory, of course not equal to Dafinitely Maybe. Every band member wrote at least one song and Andy's Turn Up The Sun and Keep The Dream Alive are amazing, Liam's songwriting clearly improved if you listen to the classic Love Like A Bomb. And then there's Let There Be Love, Part Of The Queue...can't stop listening to this one. People who gave this a zero didn't listen to this Expand

How many bands from the '90s are still going and continue to have strong fan support. Oasis have been through the ringer and are still left standing. This album will serve as the foundation for Oasis 2.0. It's only going to get better and evolve further. This album is awesome. It's tight and confident, as well as mature and professional. Best since What's The Story. A few critics seem to have panned it based on feelings towards the Gallaghers, most of which are a decade in the making. A phenomenal album.

Hard to believe the low score on this album so far. Yea it's not up to par with their first two albums, but not only is this a great improvement on their last two, it's a strong album with really only a few weak tracks. This really doesn't deserve to be in the same category as heathen Chemistry and Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. Hasn't it gotten so that the Hard to believe the low score on this album so far. Noel's only good song on this one is "Part Of The Queue". The standout tracks on the album are actually Andy's "Keep The Dream Alive" and Gem's "A Bell Will Ring". 10 years is way too long a time to be continually mediocre.

A much better effort than the previous 2 albums who try'd to immitate the originals. The songs have been written by diffeernt members of the band giving each song quite differnt sounds and influences, some are still mediocore and seems noels melody writing ability is being lost only penning 5 songs.

Critic score distribution:
  1. Positive: 13 out of 28
  2. Negative: 5 out of 28
  1. Yes, the rumors are true: Oasis has--for the first time in a decade--made an album worth hearing.
  2. Mediocre melodies ride atop formulaic songwriting.
  3. In the end, it's Oasis's attempts to capture former pinnacles, from trying to re-create the simple sunny-side-up pleasures of "Live Forever" to trying for another album-ending mountain like "Champagne Supernova," that keep their latter-day output so entirely forgettable.
