    There is much to be enjoyed on Everything Is Forgotten, but the elegant lightness of touch on their debut has all but disappeared. The potential is clearly still there, but next time they'll really need to embrace and explore it to their full ability if they are to make their mark.

    Sadly, towards the close the balance is lost and the fine-but-inessential ‘Summer Moon’, ‘Weeds Through The Rind’ and ‘Schlager’ end things on a weak note.

    Bands like Christine and the Queens and Mother Mother have attempted the same swagger-filled beats that Methyl Ethel have tried on Everything Is Forgotten, and each has successfully made a jam-worthy song. However, within the genre of indie, the same swagger groove tends to be artificial, and the same soul-searching loses its way amongst the noise.

    This is a drastically underrated album. It's telling that the most popular track is "Ubu", which is actually just mediocre compared to most ofThis is a drastically underrated album. It's telling that the most popular track is "Ubu", which is actually just mediocre compared to most of the album. "Ubu" tends to follow the direction of most radio-friendly alternative music these days, while tracks like "No. 28", "Groundswell" and "Hyakki Yako" are slow-burners with soaring melodies and uniqueness.
    If you're a fan of songs that end in a dramatic fashion, you'll probably love this album as the most infectious melodies close out the tracks.
