  • Summary: The four-piece post-rock outfit now based in Philadelphia continue to fill out their sound on this follow-up to 'We Fight Til Death.'
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 4 out of 7
  2. Negative: 0 out of 7
  1. For all its faraway humming and quietly steady pace, Windsor for the Derby has still made a "band" album.
  2. There is some irony in following up a record called We Fight Til Death with one titled (and as vital as) Giving Up The Ghost. However, Windsor For The Derby doesn't sound as if it has succumbed to anything save for its singular atmospheric pop tendencies.
  3. Far from snuffing out, Windsor For The Derby sounds like a band with a new lease on life.
  4. Giving up the Ghost is the type of album to play as background music at a party when no one has to pay too much attention to it. Then afterwards, everyone remembers how hip and cool the music sounded. It's often propulsive, sometimes memorable, but only half extraordinary.

I've been a fan forever and love how this record is so in line with their others but also really different.
