Jinx starts out promising, with a few well-crafted and consistently surprising gems, but the lackluster backend seems far too content to tread water.

Disjointed rather than bad; there's undoubtedly a cross-section for which the not-quite-post-punk, not-quite-shoegaze combination works. Let's hope they find it.

'Jinx' sounds like the party that doesn't stop. There is enough here to convince any naysayers that this band has what it takes to be more noticed. The album often lacks focus and doesn't seem able to decide whether or not it's dance or punk, and without quite being able to be the next LCD Soundsystem, they settle for second best. But this is a damn catchy offering and I look forward to hearing more from them. Full Review »
