The whole album is a huge disappointment. I found only three tracks worthy of keeping on my computer and none worthy of my ipod. They have changed to sound more like the horrible pop we hear all the time on the radio.

The variety on the CD favors buying the tracks individually after you listen to a preview because there are only 2 nu-metal songs, a couple songs that sound like a few of the other songs you hear this year, some that sound... different, and one thats not really much of a song. Definately a more mature sounding CD, but maybe thats not what everyone is listening for.

I didn't like this the first time I heard it because it wasn't more of the same which is what I was hoping for. Thankfully I gave it a chance and although there are only 3 or so really heavy songs, they do all of the 'new' stuff well (don't remember even hearing a guitar solo on their previous albums). Just make sure you give Valentine's Day a skip whenever I didn't like this the first time I heard it because it wasn't more of the same which is what I was hoping for. It is a great change LP have brought to themselves.I liked Hybrid Theory,Meteora was great. But MTM is very very different. This Album consists of variety of genres.Bleed it out,What ive done,Shadow of the Day and Leave out all the rest are the key tracks of the album and these are the tracks that got MTM a 7 from me.

it was a very great album.. the style was different but i enjoyed it very much so. i watched an interview on the band and they were saying that they were sick of the same sound.. many bands have replicated their old sound and they wanted something new..and i agree. great album.

Great sounding album, It's a step back to old fashioned song making in the form of ballads and I have no problem with that

To be honest,I HATE Linkin Park.I hate their whiny bullshit genre,I hate their over-the-top anthems like Numb or Crawling, and I hate the feeling you get from them that they consider themselves underground or hip. They are not,and Meteora and Hybrid Theory are pieces of garbage.I still believe that after hearing MTM,but I at least no longer believe they can't right a proper song to To be honest,I HATE Linkin Park.I hate their whiny bullshit genre,I hate their over-the-top anthems like Numb or Crawling, and I hate the feeling you get from them that they consider themselves underground or hip. They are not,and Meteora and Hybrid Theory are pieces of garbage.I still believe that after hearing MTM,but I at least no longer believe they can't right a proper song to save their clean-cut hides. This album is,at times, truly explosive and original.Given Up,Leave Out All The Rest and The Little Things Give You Away are masterclasses in the writing of commercial pop music. There are slips back into their old angst-ridden nu-metal days-like on No More Sorrow, and at times the cheesiness is to much to bear-Hands Held High is vomit-inducing.Overall,though,this is a huge improvement over their woeful early work and Minutes To Midnight will stand as a testament to them that they were not afraid to give their hourdes of angsty teen fans a sharp shock with some real songwriting. It's an OK album but it's nowhere as good as Meteora or Hybrid Theory.

There's a reason why the critics are sitting at computer terminals and Linkin Park are out filling stadiums and arenas. They are musicians and they do their particular brand of music very very well.

i've only listened to 5-6 of the songs and, quite honestly, i don't really want to listen to more. i enjoyed "what i've done" the first few times, but after overusing it in transformers tv spots, it got kind of annoying. "bleed it out" is all right, only because it's quite different than the others. other than those two, the cd's a load of garbage. get What i've only listened to 5-6 of the songs and, quite honestly, i don't really want to listen to more. i enjoyed "what i've done" the first few times, but after overusing it in transformers tv spots, it got kind of annoying. A far cry from Meteora and Hybrid Theory shows a different side of LP. No "soft" song on this album is any worse or any better than any of their other ballads (My December, anyone?). SO... 1) The ballads and softer songs on the album are not odes to Bennington, simply something different. And consider the fact that Bennington's voice would not sound half as good if not for Shinoda's backing. 2) Cursing happens. To say that someone is nobler simply for not cursing is dumb. Do you not curse when you're angry? Or when you're hurt? 3) LP never really fit the Nu-metal label, and alternative is too broad a genre (it encompasses too many bands to be a real gauge of a bands sound). LP has had a unique sound since they started, and are simply looking to progress that. 4)The band members are all rich bastards and can do whatever the hell they want. They will always have fans somewhere in the world, so if you don't like them, just don't listen. 5)At least they don't do Christmas albums. Expand

Linkin Park's allusions to important issues in the real world are what make this album so impressive and unique. Even with their melodic sounds within Hands Held High (which happens to be my favorite song on this CD) Linkin Park is still able to keep their hardcore sound from their roots such as Given Up. I was a huge Linkin Park fan. When I heard that Linkin Park was recording a new album, I was pretty excited. The fact that they were going to be 'introducing a new, more mature sound' really stoked my interest as well. I listened to 'What I've Done' when it was released, and got pretty disappointed, but still shrugged it off, simply telling myself that the other I was a huge Linkin Park fan. Was I ever mistaken. I listened to the CD in my friend's car, and I had to ask her whether she put in the right CD. Only a few songs, like Bleed it Out, were good. The others could be thrown in the garbage. I'm glad I didn't buy the new CD. One thing that really pissed me off about this new direction that LP is taking was the completely useless cursing. No doubt about it, LP has grown and changed. But, in my opinion, not for the better. Expand

I used to love linkin park, hybrid theory and meteora were epic as was Collision Course...but this just sucked, the only song i liked was Bleed It Out because it was catchy, they need to go back to their roots.

We've heard the same nu-metal style before on their previous albums. It's sounds good and still as agressive as ever, but this band needs to try and break away what seems to be becoming a little old-fashioned already. This is truly only for the fans, but it still has some gold and silver amongst the gold with songs such as 'What I've done' and 'Leave Out All We've heard the same nu-metal style before on their previous albums. Ok, could have been better by a lot because it is more boring than their previous albums because it has less metal and rap to it. I love "Given Up" and "Bleed It Out". "What I've Done" is okay but the sound is not very good or exciting. Meteora and Hybrid Theory are a lot better.

  1. The California rap-rockers are stymied by their decision to stay roughly within the shrieky boundaries of their genre (albeit with less emphasis on the rap).
  2. Amid the stabs at growth, every new effect sounds borrowed.
  3. As you might imagine, the band’s emo makeover doesn’t always go smoothly.
