I, for one, applaud the band for taking risks. That's what they wanted to do, and I believe they succeeded. Do I like every song on the album? No. But I love almost all of them, and I love the album as a whole. I wasn't sure if I would at first, but I took a chance and was not disappointed. Maybe they do have some supporters for this album, but I guarantee you that not one of these songs will be played a year or two from now. It's a great album and it's not an emo album. Linkin Park actually got LESS emotional with their music. The lyrics have different layers of meanings. Some of it is POLITICAL. (i.e. "No More Sorrow", "Little Things Give You Away", etc)

This is possibly the best CD Linkin Park has ever done. Forget those people who hated it, if you want to either rock out or calm down and sleep, then Minutes to Midnight is the right choice for you. "What I've Done" was a success, so that means the album is a very huge success. Don't waste your time thinking about it, just buy it! You'll thank me later.

There's a reason why the critics are sitting at computer terminals and Linkin Park are out filling stadiums and arenas. They are musicians and they do their particular brand of music very very well.

Heard the whole thing with my brother in his car. God awful. It's like all they are trying to do is end up in a soundtrack for a Michael Bay movie (which they did). One horrible rock ballad after another. They try so hard to be thoughtful and emotional, but ends up being a sob session for guys who probably realize they suck, and just want someone, anyone, so like them.

Chester Bennington tries to break away from being Shinoda's sidekick, and fails miserably. The album is trash, i'm glad I didn't buy it the first day it came out, because that'd be one of the most expensive coasters i've ever bought. Next time i'm craving some Linkin Park, i'll queue up "The Rising Tied".

This is far from crap. I can see why most people are calling it that but you gotta understand that Linkin Park can't put out yet another album similar to Hybrid Theory. They decided to take a different route and came out with this. This album is indeed too soft for a lot of the older fanbase to listen to but if you can get past that, this is a very enjoyable record.

The variety on the CD favors buying the tracks individually after you listen to a preview because there are only 2 nu-metal songs, a couple songs that sound like a few of the other songs you hear this year, some that sound... different, and one thats not really much of a song. Definately a more mature sounding CD, but maybe thats not what everyone is listening for.

I was expecting a radical change from LP previous work when I listened to this album for the first time, so I was not surprised by the poppy, emo feel of this album, but thats not my largest gripe with M2M. I enjoyed this album to an extent, and some of the songs are really quite good. But the albums problem is that there is an abysmal lack of variety. Think of My December with every possible set of lyrics and you have a general idea of what this album is about. That is not to say that all of the songs are rewritten My Decembers. Given Up is a good song that is more in the classic LP vein, and their older fans will definatly enjoy this song. There are also two songs with mike rapping, but they sound a hell of a lot more like fort minor that classic LP, so you may or may not ejoy them. My final gripe about the album is the truly pointless swearing. I will state right now that I have nothing against profanity in music if it has a PURPOSE (an example of this for me would me My Chemical Romance's "Mama"), but this CDs swearing is so pointless at times you feel that the profanity was added just for the sake of getting a lyric warning on the cover of the CD in order to attract a teenage audience. I mean, given up has more f-bombs than I can count, but they really don't add anything to the song, really pushing the limit of how far LP can venture from their old work. But in the end (pun not intended), M2M provided a decent listening experience if you want a simple, average album to listen to when you have no real reason to listen to anything else, or you just want to practice you swearing singing along to Given Up. Definaty Listen to Valentines Day and Given Up, the only truly great songs on the album. Expand

It will disappoint the old LP fans because they resolved their daddy issues and write songs that go much deeper than the previous albums that are loaded with teenage angst. "Minutes" is definately one to listen to 3 or 4 times before making up your mind. All in all, probably my favorite album so far this year...

The whole album is a huge disappointment. I found only three tracks worthy of keeping on my computer and none worthy of my ipod. They have changed to sound more like the horrible pop we hear all the time on the radio.

Complete and total garbage. It is nothing but Emo trash. The whole album is a total rip-off, especially the political remarks. Wow, maybe they should tour with System of a Down and spew that cliche, mindless garbage together. They are just sell-outs to the Emo and anti-war cultures. Total disappointment.

They've developed a much deeper, more mature sound musically, and lyrically they've never been better....or even close to what they've achieved in M2M. Of all the things they've done, the most important things are: A much cleaner, more natural, organic (though not completely so) sound, intelligent lyrics (just listen to Hands Held High), real, MUSICAL lines (the guitar solo in "In Pieces" is undoubtedly the best guitar work they've ever put out) , and a lesser focus on Shinoda. One thing that has become evident, is that Linkin Park is Chester Bennington. Shinoda is still needed, though sparingly, to add some depth to the material, and what he does in M2M is far better than what he has done in the past, but it's still obvious that LP is all about Chester. These people giving the album a "0," are pretty pathetic. It's one thing to dislike an album, but to straight up trash it is childish. Anyway, the albums actually pretty good if you listen to it more than once (maybe 3 or 4 times). With such a radical change, it takes awhile to sink in. Good Job LP!

I bought the special edition album the second Best Buy opened, and listened to it immediately. Brilliant. Fantastic. Perfect. Et cetera. Yes, they have changed some with Shinoda only on a few songs, but you can still tell it is Linkin Park, and it's really not too different from their other work if you think about it. Just imagine an album where two-thirds of the songs are in the style of "My December" and "Easier to Run". I don't see why people are complaining and saying they want the "old" Linkin Park back-- they're still the best. Every single track on the CD is perfect, not just "What I've Done", and I can't place any above the others. But I do admit taht "Hands Held High" and "The Little Things Give You Away" gave me goosbumps (the first is about the war and is very poignant, while the latter is about Hurricane Katrina). For those looking for the rap-rock sound, only one song on the album follows that style, which is "Bleed It Out". The other two songs that are nu-metal are "Given Up" and "No More Sorrow", which have the kind of energy and screaming from their previous work. Oh, and when you listen to "Given Up", take note of Chester's incredible 17 second scream (remniscent of Maynard's 15 second scream on "The Grudge" from Tool's Lateralus). There's really nothing I can say to explain how perfect the album is, and it was definitely worth the four and a half years it took. And, if people are complaining about how long it took for it to came out, look at how much work they spend trying to make sure us fans get their very best: they spent an entire year doing nothing but making the album (the other years they wre on tour and coming up with some new sounds), and they had 100 song ideas and narrowed it down to 12 (or 13 if you include the separate "No Roads Left (But One)", where Shinoda sings again as in "In Between", and proves he is a good singer and rapper). So all you people who call themselves "fans" and are complaining about the CD, you were never fans of Linkin Park, you were just fans of the sound. Any true fan will love this to death, trust me, I know. Oh, and the band is not a sellout, sellouts are bands who stop making the music they like or change their sound for money or to try and get mainstream-- neither of which Linkin Park did. So please buy this album, don't steal it off a site or anything. Try and have respect for the band and the absolutely incredible amount of work and time they put into this album. Expand

Some of these reviews are just plain funny. Mainly because the (professional) reviewers contradict themselves. They say MTM isn't as good as their other albums, which is strange, because if I remember correctly, they've always hated LP. Don;t listen to their biased bullshit this album is really enjoyable if you just give it a chance.

You know, if LP stuck to their old rap-rock sound, this would be one of the most different sounding and risky albums of 2007. The non-album track 'QWERTY' showed they could still do it. Unfortunately, this album has gone the way of every other rap-rock band- instead of being truly non-mainstream and just playing their music, they would prefer to dump their old style and adopt the latest 'genre of the month'. Seriously, this album is so bland, generic and cookie cutter. It's like a greatest hits of emo bands from the past 3 years, not to mention the massive U2 influences. There are some songs where they try stuff just for the sake of trying it, like on In Pieces they have a really boring guitar solo just so they can have a guitar solo. Also, Valentine's Day is pathetic, such a whiny load of crap, the chorus will either make you burst into laughter or burst into singing 'Forever' by Papa Roach (same riff but PR's version has a better melody). Also, what is with all that stupid hand clapping? It makes Given Up almost unlistenable. The two best songs are probably Bleed It Out (coz it actually has some ENERGY, even though the lyrics are brain dead) and The Little Things Give You Away because it has some pretty well-written lyrics about Hurricane Katrina (however, the bit at the end where Chester sounds like Bono makes me wanna hurl).
