    It was pretty hard rating this album. They are at their best on maybe 6 songs, and are pretty bad on the rest. The sound is closer to Antics that I wished it was, but in my opinion it is still stronger than their latest release without being as good as their first (they will probably never record an album as good as TOTBL).

    I never much cared for Interpol, but overall, this is my favorite album of theirs. It's the one that's easiest to take as a cohesive whole, and there are a few songs that shine ("No I In Threesome," "Pioneer To The Falls").

    Definitively a change from the previous albums but not a bad one! Songs take a little more time to sink in but the provoking lyrics help. I think the band is really up to something and listineng to Our Love to Admire makes me feel like I'm witnessing something great unravel.

    I like some of the things they tried on this album - adding more instruments and trying to add texture to their sound - and they get bonus points from me for titling a song "No I in Threesome". Nonetheless, in many respects this is more of the same (not necessarily a bad thing if you sound like Interpol). Yes, there are some complete dud songs on here, and yes, Banks' lyrics are often embarrassingly awkward and gauche. But every Interpol album has been like that - half the tracks are killer, half are forgettable. The worst thing you can say about this one is that they haven't made a huge leap and this isn't the "OK Computer"-like masterpiece we'd all love for this band to make.… Expand

    Joy Division never made it past two records, so, who knows, maybe their third would have start to sound average as well. A few bright lights on this, but for the most part I'm left hoping that a modern day Arthur Baker can help these guys record their own Blue Monday

The Heinrich Maneuver was a nice tease, but upon listening to this album enough times that it should have grabbed me by now, it's just felt flat compared to their other two albums. The comments circulating here about the lackluster rhythm section are absolutely right on; especially if you've seen Interpol live, Carlos D and Sam Fogarino are amazing A huge disappointment.     It does have a few duds but the others make up for it. Pace is the trick is one of interpols best. And yes the critics are retarded i read one of the reviews and they incorrectly quoted the lyrics

    This is one heck of an album! Definitely worth the long 3 years wait. OLTA is just as good as TOTBL and Antics, don't listen to what the critics say. Interpol is clearly one of the best bands in the world.

I think the problem that the "1 listen" reviewers are having is that this is a much more restrained and subtle record than, say, the new White Stripes. Not a record that needs to beat you over the Love it...expansive production, great songs. Totally disagree about the rhythm players being A.W.O.L.     Personally I don't think Our Love To Admire is as good as TOTBL or Antics. But it is still a good solid listen. It took me a few listens to really get into it. But now I can't stop listening to it. The difficult third album has arrived. Some love it, some hate it. It's not a masterpiece in my opinion, but still a record you should own if you enjoyed the previous two.,

    It's not a bad album, that's for sure, but it doesn't come close to their first two. I've listened a few times now, and frustratingly, I feel I should like it more than i do; Our Love simply hasn't hooked me in yet. Good music should, of course, challenge us, but not to the extent where listening is a chore!     Its ok, not great. It lacks the cuts, breaks and climaxes of antics. A little disappointing considering the time it took to get it out there.

    I agree with the review. Was really looking forward to this, but I am very displeased. Sounds like a band that has run out of ideas, but still trying really hard to come up with something that is "important' and "relevant". Personally, I think the new Editors album blows this out of the water!

    This is the 1st Interpol album I have bought. I know that this is a wicked album so I really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. Pace is the Trick is my favourite track. Ace.

    this album is full of soaring guitars and melodies that make your insides feel like they're about to explode. interpol have made an album that fills the listener with feelings of invincibilty and heart ache at the same time...

    Interpol maintain a unique style that distinguishes them from a lot of the other stuff out there. The new record is more commercial then the earlier ones but certainly among the best albums of the year. Almost all songs are good.

    Far from bad; however, the boys of Interpol need to turn on the bright lights that caught our attention in the first place. As it is, Our Love To Admire is one of those albums fans are bound to love and everyone else will simply wonder what the hot fuss is all about. And yes, it sounds exactly like their first two albums--to the point of frustration.

    Without a doubt, Album of the year. Even though, 07 has been an incredible year for music. Interpol has once again shown why there musical genuises. A must buy for anyone who calls themselves a rock fan.

    This album is incredibly different from Antics and Turn on the Bright Lights (much more ethereal) but is still beautiful in its own way. However, a few of the songs sound half-assed...it is a very good album as a whole, but there aren't that many individual songs that are amazing.

    Our Love to Admire combines the melecholy, beautiful, and climatic sounds of the Interpol we love with newer drum and guitar combinations. The lyrics have retained their ambiguous, brooding nature, but have evolved more into narrative stories. Listen to it over and over and catch different pieces of this great album.

    I'd honestly give this a 9.5. It's really a return to their earlier feel of releasing an Album, not just singles on an LP. It's such a build on the sounds of Antics and an exploration of the shrouded mystery and romance that the band is known for.

    On first listen, it seemed like Interpol was continuing their boring sludge of Antics, but I was surprised to find this one grow on me. "Pioneer to the Falls" is an impressive opener, while "The Heinrich Manuever" is buoyed by a bouncy guitar line. Pretty damn good.

    Our Love to Admire lacks everything that made Interpol exciting and relevent. Instead it's filled with pointless songs that never evolve into anything substantial. The urgency and focus present in the previous albums is not only gone, but it's hard to believe that they were made by the same band. At best Our Love to Admire is a mediocre collection of b-sides.

    Not as solid an outing as the previous two albums (will anything ever compare to Turn on the Bright Lights?) but a great record nonetheless. While still eschewing the traditional rock songwriting format, this album comes closest to producing stand-alone rockers. Instant burners like Mammoth and Heinrich Maneuver will garner the band more commercial attention.

    theres deffinitely much more diversity in the way these songs sound compared to Antics which was pretty monotone. this album took me by surprise.. there alot of great tracks on here... the only one i didnt like at all was Lighthouse of course which sounds all too psychadelic and doesnt seem to fit in at all with the rest of the tracks..

    OLTA meanders within the same digitally delayed, Joy Division realm as usual, but doesn't evoke the same emotions at all. Bright Lights gets a 9 or 10, Antics gets a 6 or 7, and this gets a 5 at best. Some nice little harmonic moments but overall this one is forgettable.

    i listened to it about three times through... and that was enough. You'll find much of the same content and detached feeling on their second effort, Antics, only with slightly less successful results. I gave them two chances - but no more.

    This is Interpol...I loce , love , love this album. The first four tracks feed off each other and even the ones to follow are good but the first four really are something special all together. Highly recommended.

    This album is so nostalgically beautiful. althugh, i have to admit, the songs are all kind of similar at first, but after a few listens, each is distinguished. it think it would be a really good soudtrack for a dark, depressing action movie.

    I can't believe we waited for this. The mystery that was once interpol seems to have finally come to light. Dark shape shifting lyrics have given way to undercooked half sarcastic lyrics. The music seems to be exactly what one might expect and the melodies are mediocre at best.

    Another Masterpiece by the boys in black. "OLTA" is without a doubt on par, with "TOTBL" and "Antics", which says alot about how good this album is. 2007 has been a tremendous year for music and but this is the best of the pact. This is my choice for "Album of the Year" and once again proves why Interpol is the best band in the world, right now.

    Depressing to listen to given their past work. You can tell yourself it's just a change of direction, but it's hard to not call that sugarcoating. Play this album and then follow it with anything from Turn on the Bright Lights and you will see how much more they used to care.

    I have to admit that I read the stylus review first and the pitchfork review second and expected this album to be a complete disaster, however, I'm glad to say that this is far from the case. It's good, just listen, and you'll probably like it. Anyway, both Stylus and Pitchfork reviews are all over the place at the best of times so always take them with a grain of salt.

As soon as it was made available to me I listened to the entirety of this album twice.     Though i normally listen to classic, progessive rock like Genesis, King Crimson ,Pink Floyd and some rock and grunge bands like Soundgarden , Pearl Jam ,Foo Fighters, Radiohead,etc. ever since i got introduced to Interpol by a friend (along with countless other "indie" crap that supposedly was music) they got me completely hooked .The voice , the minimalism , the dark vibe,themelodies, i Though i normally listen to classic, progessive rock like Genesis, King Crimson ,Pink Floyd and some rock and grunge bands like Soundgarden , Pearl Jam ,Foo Fighters, Radiohead,etc. ever since i got introduced to Interpol by a friend (along with countless other "indie" crap that supposedly was music) they got me completely hooked .The voice , the minimalism , the dark vibe,themelodies, i liked everything. I personally dont think this is the case, Antics was a more pop album, at least for interpol´s standards, but i liked the more direct aproach to the songs and the songs were excellent , "Evil", "Narc", "Not Even Jail", "Slow Hands","Take You On A Cruise" and specially "Public Pervert" were all killer. This new Our Love To Admire is even better to me . In terms of pure sound , this one is the best, or at least the better produced and better layered one; and the bass is not mixed intrusively loud and low like in TOTBL, same for the drums. And some songs here i feel are their best and most complete work, in music and lyrics. "Mammoth" is right now my favorite Interpol song ever, "Pioneer to the Falls" was an epic way to start the album , "No I In Threesome", "All Fired Up" , "Pace is The Trick" and the great "Wrecking Ball" .Overall , i feel this record is their most accomplished in structure and quality of sound , a more polished and elegant work. It may not have crowd friendly singles that will pop up on FM radios, but it's a cd that I know I can pop in and just let run, not ever having to hit the skip button. And trust me, that's a huge compliment from me. Hence the 10.     Interpol's new album is much darker and obscure than the first two. It is an excellent album with several great tracks like: "no I in threesome", "pioneer to the falls" and my favorite rest my chemistry! I definetely recommend this album to anyone. It is like okcomputer to radiohead!

    Some of these comments make zero sense. This album isn't marked by more guitar but by more percussion, this album is more textured and "Pioneer to the Falls" is an oustanding opening track. By the time "Mammoth" rolls in the album had sunk its teeth into me.

    Another great album from one of the best indie rock artists this decade. It may not quite reach the heights of Turn on the Bright Lights, but several songs on this album are some of the best the band have ever recorded. "Pioneer to the Falls," "No I in Threesome," "Mammoth," "Pace Is the Trick" and "Rest My Chemistry" are all amazing tracks. If it weren't for "All Fired Up" and "Who Another great album from one of the best indie rock artists this decade. It may not quite reach the heights of Turn on the Bright Lights, but several songs on this album are some of the best the band have ever recorded. "Pioneer to the Falls," "No I in Threesome," "Mammoth," "Pace Is the Trick" and "Rest My Chemistry" are all amazing tracks. If it weren't for "All Fired Up" and "Who Do You Think," I'd probably have given this album a perfect 10, but I just can't get into those two tracks. Still, it's another very solid effort from a very talented band. I think people should give it at least 5-10 complete listens to it before passing judgment because this, like Antics, is one album that REALLY grows on you.… Expand

    Disappointing album. Don't waste your time. New fans, compare to their first album "Turn on the Bright Lights" which is actually good.

    Buy the album just for pace is the trick , you will have not regrets! (well this album is so good, but this track is particularly beautiful).

    This album is a true masterpiece. In my opinion it´s even better than TOTBL. It´s impossible to find a weak point on that record. Congratulation boys!

    After a good 8 years, I can say that this is an relatively underrated outing by Interpol. It has definitely turned into my favorite Interpol album as a whole.

    Although not quite as mind blowing as the preceding Antics, Our Love To Admire is an exceptional album. It nears perfection with only a solitary weak link on it's tracklist (the closing Lighthouse). I personally prefer this LP to the much lauded Turn On The Bright Lights and the uneven self titled album.

    Very moody and catchy. Paul as a songwriter and lyricist has improved. His imagery has more clarity, his songs are easier to understand and the band has really come together for having a real mood for each song that is unique instead of all from the same thread. In a way they're treading similar ground while trying a few new things out but it's a good listen.

    Our Love To Admire is a great album in my opinion. Though it may be the weakest of the Interpol catalogue, it doesn't mean this album isn't worth a listen. Only when you compare this album to Turn On The Bright Lights does it seem like a drop in quality, and not by too much. I enjoy each song on this album except "Mammoth", which I wish hadn't made it onto the record.

That said, there is still much to like on this album and I actually enjoy it more now than when it first came out. It still blasts most of the competition out of the water.     Honestly don't care what "Interpol" fans say... As myself is a Interpol fan i declare this is definitely their second best only just behind Turn On The Bright Lights, not really. But this album is amazing, great opening track in Pioneer To The Falls then going into my personal all time favourite Interpol song No I In Threesome then finishing a lovely end of Lighthouse.     A very catchy album that expands the band to a wide audience. Has a blend of upbeat and down tempo tracks on this album, that make for a introspective adventure.

    A lot more good than bad, although certainly not the album many anticipated after TOTBL and Antics. A different direction for Interpol. Maybe a bit more of a pop sound to many of the songs.

    Just plain excellent. Real standouts are Rest My Chemistry and Pioneer To The Falls. More of their distinct sound and driving beats. Can't get enough of Interpol!

    This one can be softer than their previous releases, but it still got some killer tracks. Can't name just few. Intensely emotional and pretty solid as it is, I still thinking this is the best Interpol album to date.

    Along with El Pintor, this is one of their more accessible releases. It is less dark and brooding than its two predecessors. As a result, it has a much brighter tone overall. I don't have a problem with this: in fact I’m glad that Interpol tried something new! However, there are some flaws that I notice now in retrospect. After the halfway point, I feel that quality gets a little bit spotty. Some of the tracks start to feel a bit weaker. But at the same time, the second half still features plenty of tracks that I really enjoy (“Rest My Chemistry” and “The Lighthouse,” to name a couple). Luckily things don’t crash and burn, and the album always manages to regain its composure when it stumbles. I am especially glad that this album ends on a strong note. On the previous two releases, the final tracks didn’t really feel like closing tracks – it almost made it feel like those albums ended in the middle of things. But here they finally nail it with a dramatic finish that wraps everything up perfectly.

    I can see why some people might adore this record, but I can also see why other people might think that it’s just okay. Personally, I enjoy Our Love to Admire for its embellishment on Interpol’s typical sound. This is what really makes this record stand out as a solid entry in Interpol’s discography.    … Expand

    With giant gyrating reverberated guitars and a grandiose brass section, this is the sound of a rock band attempting the sweeping gallantry of Sibelius or Tchaikovsky and getting away with it. It represents a smugly victorious ending to what is a phenomenally strong and well-polished album.
