It feels refreshing, and like a bunch of really good mates have got together to share their experiences with the world. L.S. Dunes could well change the tide on all things post-hardcore.

This is an album that grows in grandeur with each listen, layers unravelling with every replay.

Past Lives isn't exactly full of surprises, but it doesn't need to be to succeed as a mission statement for a new band who seem to be around to stay, if rumours of new material brewing are any indication. Every member of L.S. Dunes is in their element even after respective years of being legends in the genre.

L.S. Dunes' defiant, topical, and anthemic sound draws from a wide array of punk and hardcore subgenres.

The frustrating thing about Past Lives is that it simply sounds like good music. It is not bigger or smaller than the sum of its parts – it’s exactly that. The members got the recipe just right, but it doesn’t leave much of an aftertaste.

Past Lives is a wilfully uncommercial record, made for the sheer love of the tight-knit scene that spawned them. [Dec 2022, p.74]

The sheer relentlessness dilutes that thrill factor, but there are shades, notably on the stately opener 2022 and the closing Sleep Cult. [Feb 2023, p.91]

"Past Lives" is an album by L.S. Dunes, a supergroup consisting of Anthony Green, Frank Iero, Travis Stever, Tim Payne, and Tucker Rule. The"Past Lives" is an album by L.S. Dunes, a supergroup consisting of Anthony Green, Frank Iero, Travis Stever, Tim Payne, and Tucker Rule. The album can be described as a complex network of interconnected threads, like a spider's web, that captures and unifies all the noise, riffs, and obsessive choruses within it. The lyrics of the songs delve into themes of struggle, stress, anxiety, despair, deception, physical pain, and the past. The album can be seen as an enchanted mirror that reflects the present in detail, but also the past and its possibilities, moments of rupture, and instances. The lyrics of the songs also frequently reference loneliness, feeling trapped or confined, and alienation. Overall, "Past Lives" is an introspective and introverted album that explores the complexities and difficulties of the human experience.
