  1. Mojo
    80
Brevity obviously suits them as the results are both evocative and sublime. [May 2008, p.111]
  2. So while Jagjaguwar may well release a below par record in 2008, Shots is not that record.
  3. While Driedeger and company still have a ways to go in crafting a distinct sound and generally tightening their writing (especially the lyrics), they're well on their way.
  4. Under The Radar
    70
Shots is more of what they do best, a guitarophile's mellow menagerie. [Spring 2008, p.83]
  5. Spin
    70
It's a winning rethink, salvaging the best bits of a musical style that's too easily missed. [Apr 2008, p.100]
  6. Shots isn’t a perfect record by any means.... However, by the time the epic closer “Ghost Blues” enters its nasty twin-guitar breakdown, you’ll want to pour yourself another drink and hit Shots’ high points anyway.
  7. Filter
    62
While Shots never delivers on its promotional material's promise of ushering in an uninhibited Bacchanalis, it doesn't crash either. [Winter 2008, p.96]
  8. After the surprising opening salvo, however, Shots clumsily bogs down in its desire to be big and rocking, even though any time Ladyhawk can be bothered to push the tempo.
  9. Ladyhawk just aren't memorable enough to stick in the mind as they could.
  10. There's enough to enjoy here in the murky atmospherics and occasional surges of melody, but Shots can’t be the Ladyhawk album fans were hoping for.
  11. It is not all this good on Shots, but when it is, Ladyhawk show they can stand with most any rock band going today.
  12. Uncut
    60
To say Ladyhawk offer a pretty straightforward rock trip make them sound unadventurous, which they probably are, but also doesn't really do justice to the sheer head-nodding, play-loud-and-prosper enjoymenet this offers. [May 2008, p.102]
  13. The band gets bogged down far too often with a slow-verse-then-guitar-solo model, making Shots a nice overall listen but not much more.

This isn't Ladyhawk's first album... it's the second and the first was better.
