  • Summary: Her first English-language album since 2003 includes songs written by the Eurythmics' David A. Stewart, Linda Perry, and Ne-Yo.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 2 out of 8
  2. Negative: 1 out of 8
  1. Packing an emotional wallop, Chances should quash critics who insist that Dion's voice is stainless steel.
  2. Are chances taken? Not many, but there are rewards if you're willing to enjoy Dion's precise vocalizing and the hooky songs.
  3. It's an album of its time: it offers extravagance in the guise of self-help, which can be alluring in doses--especially those bizarre blues-rockers--but it's just too much of a very expensive yet not particularly tasteful thing.
  4. Alas, her cat-strangling whine is still a remarkably ugly sound, no matter what she's singing.

Very old fashioned music except for a couple of songs. Sorry I purchased it.

One good song from Heart and the rest you can forget. What is Celine thinking? Some of it sounds like a Brittany Spears album. Awful songs, awful singing, unispired arrangements. A real step backwards. A few more albums like this, and I will be skipping her cd's. what a disappointment and what a sell out. Expand
