MojoJun 28, 2019Mulcahy is a heavy-duty Randy Newman for our times. [Jul 2019, p.95]

Jul 11, 2019The Gus is a literate, smart, melodious record performed by a vastly overlooked and underrated master of the form. While not as instantly accessible as some of the work by those who celebrate him, his strangely angled view of life is certainly welcome and worthy of that celebration.

Jun 28, 2019What The Gus really has going for it is that it can serve as an entry to Mulcahy as easily as it can be enjoyed by longtime fans: a solid, if unspectacular entry to his lengthy back catalogue. It doesn’t deviate from his trademark formula, a style that’s worked for him throughout his career, but it never betrays it either.
