Pretentious filthy, generic pop pieces trying to be art, the lyrics are dumb and repetitive as hell, and the production could be much better. There are 2 or 3 good tracks as much.

Um album totalmente chato, enjoativo e nada inovador... de art não vi nada, de pop só fragmentos, na maioria são tentativas frustadas de criar algo diferente, mas o que ouço só musica genérica.

The greatest female pop album of the year. No doubt! Here we can see a happier Gaga. A colorful and joyful moment after the dark (but great) 2011 Born This Way.

Ja foi bom, atualmente não passa de algo sem sentido, flopada, sem conteúdo e que não mostra realmente a arte que tem no pop. Realmente esta decaída, por isso ninguém mais se importa!

The album is entirely boring. There is a vague proposal to introduce a concept, something that remains vacant until the last sound. Lady gaga has been better and seems to be falling into oblivion, no longer knows innovate and its image is saturated.

My final opinion on artpop: Love, but has no songs that will make you remember in the future as Monster, Dance In The Dark, Scheiße. Artpop is just another album any Without any purpose, without content and mostly without art.

This is not art and is not pop.
Simply the worst album of her career. The songs seem leftover The Fame Monster and Born This Way.
Definitely not a good album. Might work for the dance floor but it is not pleasant to hear.

While Born This Way may have been a more cohesive pop album, clearly trying to blend 80s rock and electronic pop to varying degrees of success, for some, it just didn't hit the same pleasure center of her earlier albums.

While Born This Way may have been a more cohesive pop album, clearly trying to blend 80s rock and electronic pop to varying degrees of success, for some, it just didn't hit the same pleasure center of her earlier albums.

Born This Way featured some of Gaga's best songs, and best songwriting to date (Marry the Night, Schiesse, Hair, Edge of Glory) but was seen as being dragged down by all of its artistic pretensions and messaging.

Gaga herself stated that her previous record was an attempting at being mature, and ARTPOP is her allowing herself to be a bit immature. Through that lens it is easy to understand ARTPOP's mission: to make you dance.

And so ARTPOP comes with a much higher ratio of outright bangers, all reminding us of the dizzying diversity of her musical influences as she genre-trips through the album's 60 minutes.

This is a fun, immature pop album which, while perhaps empty of meaningful commentary, was designed to be exactly that. They are vague allusions to high art, but she really just wants you to dance again.

Is it a musical regression? Not quite. Gaga experiments with a far broader spectrum of genres than before (even a respectable attempt at electro-trap) and has incorporated new influences that should fuel interesting developments in her future albums, when her career is in a place that allows for even more musical experimentation.

Meanwhile, she has added another batch of career defining jams to her cannon, and has shown that even though she is clearly moving in a direction that responds to some of her more recent criticisms, she is still, without a doubt, her own woman

The only thing impressive about this record is the fact that Gaga somehow manages to come off as pretentious even through her music. Yet again, Gaga just tries way too hard to be "creative" and "artistic." ARTPOP is plagued track after track with stupid and unrelatable lyrics. None of the collaborations have any chemistry. She wails and over-sings on every track. Mess.

I couldn't listen to ARTPOP more than twice. It's not enjoyable, it feels like she put together all the sounds she could find and she got a weird, all-over-the-place album with songs that have her yelling awfully

For a normal singer album called ARTPOP would have been something great but not to the standards of GAGA. The album has to be full of hits and great songs as GUY, Gypsy or even Venus, but he brings something amazing, something very different from other albums released, it differs from Katy ,Miley or Britney because ARTPOP presents high level of quality compared to others.

The highlights from this record are G.U.Y. that, for me, has something that recalls the power of Bad Romance (at least it remembers me), Gypsy is as powerful and incredible as The Edge Of Glory and Hair are, and many more that would take me a lot to write. One word: mess. It's nice that she is lightening up her subject matter a little bit, but it's at the point where I feel less intelligent after listening (Fashion! and Donatella). There are other songs which try too hard to mean things (Venus and Artpop). It isn't cohesive and it's just embarrassing not to mention I just have no preference for very little of the songs. Disappointed.

Her vocals remain prominent on the album, coupled with strong electropop infuses that resemble that of '80s disco and dance pop. She aces with her choices of production collaborations (i.e. DJ White Shadown, Madeon and Zedd), but falls short on her vocal partnerships. Her collaboration with R. Kelly on Do What U Want (also her 2nd Single) soars beautifully, but her attempt at rap/trap with T.I., Too Short and Twista fails to impress and comes off stale. Some other tracks also tend to have good choruses and catchy hooks, but hinge on being messy and a tad too adventurous, ultimately making a few of them sound like a few songs in one. However, there are plenty of standout tracks that stand a chance at becoming Singles in future. Her self-produced Venus, and other tracks like Swine, Donatella and Gypsy definitely have radio hit potential. The success of or lack of, as some may dispute debut Single Applause resembles that of Bad Romance, and could indicate the direction of the rest of the album. Venus, as well as MANiCURE, could potentially mimic the hits that Poker Face and LoveGame respectively were in the Fame era, although to a lesser extent.

She does good walking away from the overly complex messages that were imbedded on the Born This Way album, but her classic rocker side still shouts out on this record, discreetly hidden behind the secondary dance pop queen she's supposed to be. Ballads Dope and Gypsy flaunt this potential. The overall flow of the album is, as usual, sleek as it transitions from [experimental] dance to commercial pop to ballads and finally, an apt ending with Applause. Lyrically, she again sways away from the conventional success of clichéd lines, but alienates the general crowd with lyrics that are difficult to relate to and would limit the potential of each track (case in point: Applause). While this album is generally palatable, it really is engineered more for her fans rather than the mainstream audience. It still is a strong album overall, with dance beats that will excite and tease the bass-loving crowds while maintaining the strange unique quality in most of her songs. Worth a full listen!

Standout Tracks: Venus, Do What U Want (ft. R. Kelly), Swine, Donatella, Applause

The album may be Gaga's least acclaimed album today but I can see this being praised by many in the near future provided she and her team can showcase the 'art'. Many people, including but not limited to haters and critics, find the album pretentious because Gaga combined "art" and "pop" without providing 'explicit' evidences of the former. Here's to hoping she can exhibit art by giving her audience visually-stunning and artistic performances this era.

About the sound, there's already a lot of DJ's and producers that have made experimental electronic music... Gaga (rather her producers) are not doing something unique. The lyrics and lady gaga's voice could be the only good in the album but is widely overshadowed by the sound and sometimes by Lady Gaga's screams, grunts, weird ways to sing, and, in some parts, her very synthesized voice... What had me a bit unsure of at first was the seemingly preponderance of 'pop' over 'art', but as Gaga calmly breathes out the lyrics to title track ‘ARTPOP’: “[her] ARTPOP could mean anything”.Lady Gaga has finally released a new album after two years since the brilliant Born This Way, and I'm happy to say that after much deliberating, I think overall the album is a success. What had me a bit unsure of at first was the seemingly preponderance of 'pop' over 'art', but as Gaga calmly breathes out the lyrics to title track ‘ARTPOP’: “[her] ARTPOP could mean anything”.

Thematically, I really like this album. The album serves as a nice contrast to 2011’s Born This Way, which was an album of ballads and power-anthems focused on universal acceptance and self-expression, urging its listeners to be free and thrive in their own creativity. ARTPOP is concerned with similar ideas of the ‘self-expression’ but this album is a lot more egocentric and whilst before, Gaga was singing for everyone, now she’s singing about herself, and it feels a lot more honest than The Fame The Fame Monster did. Both of those albums focused on the life of the popstar, but, as Gaga tells us on the opening track ‘Aura’, this time we’re being given insight into the “girl who lives behind the aura”. Presumably the aura is the barrier between the famous popstar’s outer façade and the normal girl beneath. She tells us to ignore the popstar’s life for now, to leave it in ‘Hollywood’ while we step away from that public image and get to know the girl beneath, hidden ‘protected’, even by a veil.

In ‘Venus’ the themes of love and sex emerge as Gaga is embodying the Roman/Greek Goddess of Love Venus, as represented by the Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli. The lyrics “garden panty” allude to either side of Venus in the painting: ‘garden’ (the right hand side) representing the wise and intellectual aspect of love; and ‘panty’ (the left hand side), representing sexuality and lust. Gaga, in the centre, seems to be striking a balance between the two. Gaga demands to be taken to the ‘leader’ of these powerful emotions (“I can’t help the way I’m feeling”) Venus. As the second song on the album, the emergence of the theme of love indicates how important this is in Gaga’s life. This theme continues on with two more songs about sex and lust, the ‘panty’ side of the painting (which contrast with the more pure and ‘intellectual’ love expressed in Venus, where she’s simply overcome with a deeply personal love for whoever the song is addressed at probably her fans, as seems to be a central idea in the album: that the love of her fans is all she needs).

‘G.U.Y.’ also expresses something else which interests Gaga feminism. The point of the song is that while she is prefers to be subversive and dominated in the bedroom, the fact that she chooses to do so indicates that she still holds power in the relationship “I don’t need to be on top to know I'm worth it Cause I'm strong enough to know the truth”. The tale of deviance in ‘Sexxx Dreams’ finishes off the love trilogy with some infidelity probably the lowest form of sexual love. She is singing about two different lovers she has, one with whom she has a ‘lover’s quarrel’ and one whom she’s fantasizing about, separated by her singing and her speaking: “Last night, I was thinking about you, and it was kinda dirty” is intertwined with “Our lover’s quarrel hurts more than I can say” etc. before eventually the cheating side, the “criminal of thought” takes over and she focuses on her fantasy.

In “Jewels N’ Drugs” Gaga explores another important aspect of her life fame. She tells us she doesn’t want money or jewels, simply the ‘love’ of her fans, which she likens to a ‘drug’ (which is brought up again in ‘Applause’). Her habit (i.e. fame) may be expensive, both financially (she’s previously discussed how she didn’t care how much her Fame Monster tour cost) and physically (e.g. her broken hip), and while some people may see it as some ‘offensive’ fame-whoring, the strong relationship she has with her fans indicated by her ‘family’ metaphor is too overbearing and she refuses to “die” just because some people don’t like it; she is like a “mother, sister, father, brother” to her fans and won’t change it for anything. T.I. and Too $hort’s verses concern themselves with things like drugs and hookers and dangerous living, which may indicate that while Gaga loves her fame and the connection that brings to all of her fans, it’s not without its dangers.

Gaga turns back to the theme of love in ‘MANiCURE’ which details what seemingly is a lesbian affair. She begs to be healed “Heal me, ‘cause I’m addicted to love’. There is a preponderance of the imperative tense in this song “put some lipstick on”, “Perfume your neck”, “touch me in the dark”, “throw me on the bed” etc., again suggesting Gaga’s inner feminist is shining through.

Desperately trying to prove she's "art" and "pop" Gaga ends up failing on both accounts. The album is certainly bold and expressive, but completely one-note; Gaga used up all the tricks she knew. In the end, she's a decoy without much doubt a great singer, but one unable to bring anything new to the table. Ridiculously poor on lyrical side as well, Gaga seems to have lost the touch; recycling old ideas is hardly inspiring for absolutely anyone who is at least somewhat aware of the art world... That being said, I'm positive ARTPOP will be a bestseller Gaga has the most devoted fans out there, willing to jump through fire for her. The great thing about this record is that you can count on never having to listen to it again. There's some solid instrumentals and beats here, but the lyrics are...I can't even quantify what they are. It's like the crazy cat lady who never leaves her house wrote an album with a horny sixth grade boy pitching in on lines she couldn't finish.

The standout is the track with R. Kelly.

Easily the worst record she's done.

Artists like these should be honored for writing and producing almost every bit of the album without megahit songwriters and producers hired by the label. Myself, I didn't like Aura at first glance. But I listened to it more and more and I started to like it. Now, it's one of my favorites songs on the album.

See, what I'm trying to say is: you shouldn't listen to the album just one time and say that it is lame. You need to give it some time, listen to it, and THEN judge it. Everytime I did this, I caught myself listening to the thing I said I would never listen to.

Now, some are saying that the album has no meaning. What? Did you search for that meaning? EVERYTHING that Gaga does (and I'm saying EVERYTHING), has a meaning. It may take some time for you to see, but you will. Just give it some time.

Some of my favorite songs (not in order): Donatella, Aura, Gypsy, DOPE, G.U.Y, Do What You Want and Jewels N' Drugs.

I like that cosmic electronic atmosphere and the energy of the album. It's like all her albums mixed together. Those songs are so free. There are artists whose albums sound almost the same. Gaga's albums sound completely different from one another, but they have this Disco Gaga spice. I think the main purpose of this album to have a complete freedom and party, to forget all the insecurities and all the sad ballads, just have a complete techno raver pride of your identity! When listening to the whole album, in the end listening to GYPSY it makes you feel like a winner, like you’ve gone through so much and you just want to cry, but then that techno beat makes you feel so proud of what you’ve achieved and it just suddenly takes you to whole another dimension. It is very good, because that‘s how Gaga viewed it. That was the purpose to make it not so serious like her previous albums. It still has a big message, but not everyone can understand that, it‘s more about the artistry! ART and POP can belong together. I like the effort she put to work with Marina Abramovic and Jeff Koons, they really inspired her and teached her so many things and how to control her Aura. Different methods to free her mind. When watching her interviews and when she explains ARTPOP it is exactly what she has done, she represented what she wanted so perfectly. Not everyone has to like it, she made ARTPOP because of music, because of artistry, not because of money, sales or haters. Speaking of VENUS, Greek mythology and Ancient Greek Dance It represents the beauty of being a woman. the beauty of women. I think it's brilliant and still no one will ever make something like gaga, she's unique and individual, you can't compare her to somebody. She is where she is, in her place and somebody is in their place whether you like it or not. I respect her work, It's clearly something new and different, It has another energy (of love). Those who complain that her performances becoming worse and worse, I think you just don't get the main IDEA and purpose of this performance. You know she‘s not just another „POP ARTIST“ or whatever you call it. She‘s PERFORMANCE ARTIST and that is much more than you think, that is different and comparing her to Katy Perry or Kim Kardashian or whatever you name it, just doesn‘t make sense. If she wanted to create different kind of album with another message she would have done that. All in all, this is just my opinion and you don't have to accept it and agree with it. I prefer listening to Rock’n’Roll but that is what I had on mind since listening to ARTPOP, Gaga is the only artist that makes me love POP Music, and of course, I do like oldie but goldie Pop music, but just definitely not nowadays pop music. But even so, there is something else there. It's not hollow pop, her messages are there if you look for them. I think the whole idea behind "artpop" is that Gaga isn't just about the fame, or the love, or the money, but about the message she gives and the people she inspires. Her Artpop--her message--could be anything, as she says in the album. I don't think people realize this. Her songs are still just as catchy as they were in "The Fame." Gaga has a pure gift for melody, and especially hooks, both melodic and lyrical.
I'm not a very big fan of pop at all. Too many artists doing too much of the same thing and too many of the same sounding songs. When I listen to a Gaga song, I always know it's her. You can just tell how involved she is in her music, and how passionate she is about it, and each and every song shines with her personality. Gaga is a luminary. Her music inspires people to truly be themselves, and this album is absolutely vital in that. While it may seem like a downgrade from the complexities of Born this Way, it's not. It's simply just another direction.

And one of the main reasons is definitely its informality of sound in the genre of pop and yet great and perfectly designed catchy melodies and hooks, which stand out and prove to lead the listener to a nearly psychedelic state of the spirit. And all that complimented with lyrical sweetness, joy and rage. Rage that mesmerizes the mind, a trip from planet to planet, condensed with sex and pain, with wisdom and immaturity.
It is a matter of fact that there are generally two ways to navigate through the work of Lady Gaga a pop and an art one. And that is no phenomenon of this album. One could simply unleash memories and emotions while listening to the galactic pop of Mother Monster or one could delve deeper into the meanings and milestones that she intricately embeds into her work. Jeff Koons or the Bible (in Born this Way) there is no emptiness of sense, of message in her work.
ARTPOP celebrates the achieved freedom of Born This Way. 'I own the world, we own the world" she declares. And most certainly this direct statement has its effect.
The only drawback that actually stands out is the production. And not that it is in any way bad. The feeling of the album is however a bit overproduced and a bit overqualified in terms of pop power. What I mean is that some of the tracks (Swine for instance) would have been more emotionally charged if it wasn't for the final sound of them. But perhaps that was the intention of it all to belong somewhat together.
A rap song irritates the ear at first but later becomes pleasing and fits in its place.

For the past year, Gaga has been toting this album has being her peak artistic vision, claiming that she is making living art. At worst, she's been written off as being pretentious, but while listening to the album as a full story, I completely get it.

The album takes us on a ride that begins with Gaga "killing" her former self and takes us through her psyche, her vulnerability and the darkness that lives inside her. By the end, she asks us for our "Applause," for sharing her proprietary information. It's an album that is filled with anxiety, hope, despair, sex, desire, fury and above all, love.

I've made it no secret that I'm a huge fan of Gaga's work, but I'd like to think I can be critical of her work when necessary. So when I say that there's only one or two "weak" tracks out of the 15 official tracks on the album, I say that with the most critical of minds.

"Aura" leaked ahead of the official release of "Applause" and I was enamored with the mildly southern-fried dance track that taunts the listener with her sarcasm. The final version is equally as impressive and oozes contempt for Gaga's former self, fame, celebrity and Hollywood.

On the flip side of her leaving her former self behind, we get "Venus," a peek into what Gaga strives to be and what every woman should aspire to.The track that was produced by Gaga herself. "When I was finishing ARTPOP I decided to write one more song. And this song is about a very feminine wisdom. So I told all of my producers to get their big dicks out of the room. I said this one must be produced by a vagina," she said.

"G.U.Y." is a clear fan favorite, from all the psychotically ravenous reviews and meltdowns I witnessed on Twitter. And I'll admit, while Gaga doesn't make songs to be "hits," this song has the stench of a potential no.1 all over it. It's Gaga at her best: sexually dominating and surprisingly heartfelt.

Let me stop here for a second to pen a small love letter to three of the men who elevated Gaga to this level of amazingness: DJ White Shadow, Zedd and Madeon. Thank you for the stellar production and work you put into this album. It truly is her best effort and I know we have you three to thank for a lot of that.

If you didn't get hot under the collar listening to "G.U.Y." don't worry "Sexxx Dreams" will take care of that for you. Twista, T.I. and Too Short stop by on the crazy train that is 'ARTPOP' to drop a few bars on the trap-tastic "Jewels n' Drugs."

The title track, "ARTPOP" is the midway point of the album where things get even stranger. On this track, Gaga attempts to define what the hell "artpop" actually means and comes off sounding like a lunatic, but that beat and her vocals send shivers down my spine.

Now comes her most personal song on the album and easily my favorite of the bunch, "Swine." She expresses such rage and fury in this song laden with heavy production that hurts my ears. I'd liken it to hate sex. While we don't know exactly who Gaga is raging about in this song, I can honestly tell you that most people on this planet can relate to that anger in one way or another.

The relentless brilliance carries on through the sarcastic and snarky "Donatella," an ode to Gaga's designer BFF, Donatella Versace and basically continues right into "Fashion!" which is one of the weaker tracks. I get what she's trying to do with the song, but it comes off as a little vapid.

"Mary Jane Holland" is incredibly catching and reminds me of all the 80's hair bands my mother listened to while I was sitting in the car on the way to the grocery store. Describing marijuana as a female is nothing new, especially for hip-hop, but in the wide world of pop music, it's daring.

But it's no surprise that a tribute to marijuana leads in to "Dope," the only ballad on 'ARTPOP', with just Gaga and her piano, producing a heartbreaking ode to addiction and love.

The album wraps up with "Gypsy" and "Applause"; both are stark contrasts of each other, but I can't think of a better way of ending an album like this. She's telling exactly who she is, what she wants and how she's achieved it.

I didn't want to do a track-by-track review of the album, but when each song is different from the last it's hard to choose which to cover. Every song is a bevy of catchy lyrics ranging from, "Don't you know my ass is famous?" to "You're just a pig inside a human body." The production is out of this world, this galaxy even and I think that was the whole point.

'Born This Way' was Gaga's eclectic and moody album that divided her fans. 'ARTPOP' is healing those wounds and giving off a high unlike any other. If you take the album at face value, it's still a wonderful eruption of dance beats, but if you dig a little deeper you'll find you relate to Gaga more than you thought you could.

Good album, but not as good as her previous albums. It has a lot of great songs like Donatella, ARTPOP,Mary Jane Holland, Venus, Fashion!, MANiCURE, and of course Applause. I won't deny that you won't like some songs above for the first time, but I can tell you that by time they will grow on you, like Fashion! And Venus. As for the rest like Jewels and Drugs and Dope I didn't exactly like them, you know what, I hated them, I couldn't pass half of them with out switching to another songs quickly. As for Aura, I was disappointed, why?! I never thought that Lady GaGa would make a song that I would like the demo version more that the official version, the demo version was way better, I mean, it was perfect, why did she scr*w it up?! Both songs have the exact chorus and the enigma popstar is fun part which I loved the most, but the voice that sound like,uh, I don't how to describe it. Oh and I forgot about Do What You Want which belong to the great songs of the album category, it fun and I can jam to it, and her voice match perfectly with R. Kelly's voice which made me love the song more than I thought I would.
summary: very good album, but some songs shouldn't have been ever recorded and some shouldn't be changed. I believe Lady GaGa can do better, and I'm looking forward to her future works. Well done.

In all her alleged pretentiousness and self-absorbed persona, Lady Gaga is also one of the 21st century's most dedicated entertainers in the music industry and certainly one of the quirkiest. From the unexpected success of her 2008 debut album The Fame, she set the bar for fellow female pop musicians to reach, which has proven to be quite difficult in terms of originality. ButIn all her alleged pretentiousness and self-absorbed persona, Lady Gaga is also one of the 21st century's most dedicated entertainers in the music industry and certainly one of the quirkiest. From the unexpected success of her 2008 debut album The Fame, she set the bar for fellow female pop musicians to reach, which has proven to be quite difficult in terms of originality. But unfortunately, in 2013, a year when folk and indie have also unexpectedly risen up the charts and more experimental youngsters such as New Zealand hailing Lorde have topped the charts for more than a month, Lady Gaga has also challenged herself when it comes to headlining the spotlight in mainstream music. According to Gaga, ARTPOP has a "reverse-Warhol" concept in which she wishes to merge art with commercial pop, and while that concept is certainly unique (although many artists have already achieved this), it's not exactly so. ARTPOP is, for the most part, simply a EDM-influenced pop record that's musically less diverse than previous entry Born This Way and not nearly as catchy as the pop masterpiece The Fame Monster. Expect more or less from ARTPOP, but it's simply not equivalent to that of Gaga's talent. Many have accused her of emulating musicians such as Madonna, David Bowie, and even Bruce Springsteen in the past, but little did we understand, emulation is almost what made Gaga such a memorable performer. Its opening Middle Eastern-esque EDM thumper, "Aura", starts the album off strong and of course, sparked controversy with the Muslim community, which might not be all too surprising, but that's just Gaga. In fact, the first half of ARTPOP is promising enough for Little Monsters or really anyone that adores pop music in general: "Venus", although lyrically nonsensical, can be taken as poorly written or enjoyed as a fun camp song that Gaga claims to have produced all on her own (cite "Uranus/Don't you know my ass is famous" as one of the most memorable moments in AP); "G.U.Y.", which was co-produced by current EDM highlight of 2013 Zedd, could very well be hit-single material; "Sexxx Dreams" flashbacks to Gaga's adoration of 80s synthpop and rock-tinged compositions and will light up the fires in her Little Monsters hearts. But somewhere in the middle, ARTPOP begins to sound unexpectedly generic in its songwriting and musicianship with faceless entries such as "MANiCURE", which could have easily been given to the "motherf-cking princess" (whatever that means) Avril Lavigne, and "Fashion!" (no, not her unreleased 2008 song), a boring nod to 80s disco that features writing credits from David Guetta and will.i.am, which explains why it sounds so damn underwhelming in comparison to Gaga's previous entries. "Gypsy", the only nod to Born This Way on an album filled with pre-Fame material, can be taken or left. Either way, expect it on the radio as soon as early next year. Overall, while we can certainly see the effort Gaga has put into ARTPOP mentally and vocally, it's a disappointment when compared to the hype Little Monsters have been force fed since early 2012. That's not at all saying ARTPOP is a bad album nor is it even mediocre, there are some chart worthy songs here that would make anyone with a functioning heart move in the clubs. Lady Gaga has stated that ARTPOP will apparently be a 2-part album (similar to that of Justin Timberlake's The 20-20 Experience) and that all the experimental songs will be saved for the second part. Let's hope that's a legitimate fact. We're not holding our breaths, but we're also not done with Mother Monster quite yet. Wonder if we'll ever hear from alter-ego Mary Jane Holland again. Expand

Don't trust in the "10" nor the "0" SOME are not objective and/or don't even have a valid argument. This album is fun to listen, some songs are addictive and very "Gaga". It is her worst to date, but lyrically it's quite better than many other pop singers out there (most of the songs are written by 1-4 people only and she is included in all of them as writer and producer. If we look at what Pop Music is nowadays, I have to say BRAVO Lady Gaga, BRAVO!). It tries to be different and you will not find any "basic" lyrics here (Like *I go up and then go down* or *I swim swim in the water like a fish*), unfortunately in some songs this becomes confusing, pointless and/or nonsense. What this album lacks is a little bit more of "Gaga" some songs are too experimental-in-the-mainstream. Naming this album "ARTPOP" was her opportunity to do something more shocking, less pop and more art, more Björk less Skrillex and more "Gypsy" less "Fashion!". It doesn't have the greatness and passion of "Fame Monster" or the fresh sound from "The Fame" nor the strength of "Born This Way" but it's not a "disaster". Expand

A few "heard it before moments-nothing new here": Gypsy (Edge of Glory), Fashion (davide bowie, madonna lite), A couple gems: Do what you want, Dope, Applause and Donatella. A few misses: Aura, Venus, Swine, and Jewels & Drugs. The rest pretty average.

This album is beyond perfection. Gaga has outdone herself and saved pop music once again. This electrically powerful album proves she is the best woman, if not individual, person in the pop music industry. ARTPOP is just too good and deserves the best of reviews.

First of all, i am a pop music fan not especially a monster! Now for ARTPOP I like 12 out of 15 songs on the album. I like the thing that it's not so hype as the previous one. For now i can't say that she topped The Fame Monster (which one has crashed and rebuilt the pop music) but she has topped the rest pop albums of 2013. Congrats!

This album sounds like something totally generic, very loud, without many options rhythms. Just another worthless product commercial pop music. Lady Gaga needs to learn how to make real music.

Expected innovation, got a lame club record from another decade. Lyrics are beyond cringelicious, really bad. She should go into a different area of the arts, she's not a good fit for music. DWUW would be a great record with different lyrics and singers, fails as is.

The melodies here are fine, they do a job, but nothing backs up Gag's Warholian rhetoric or scales the barmy heights of Bad Romance. [Jan 2014, p.116]

While it’s stronger than the messy ‘Born This Way’, Artpop feels little more culture-quaking than a good collection of fun, silly, well-crafted pop songs.
