The whole album is a huge disappointment. I found only three tracks worthy of keeping on my computer and none worthy of my ipod. They have changed to sound more like the horrible pop we hear all the time on the radio.

The variety on the CD favors buying the tracks individually after you listen to a preview because there are only 2 nu-metal songs, a couple songs that sound like a few of the other songs you hear this year, some that sound... different, and one thats not really much of a song. Definately a more mature sounding CD, but maybe thats not what everyone is listening for.

I didn't like this the first time I heard it because it wasn't more of the same which is what I was hoping for. Thankfully I gave it a chance and although there are only 3 or so really heavy songs, they do all of the 'new' stuff well (don't remember even hearing a guitar solo on their previous albums). It is a great change LP have brought to themselves.I liked Hybrid Theory,Meteora was great. But MTM is very very different. This Album consists of variety of genres.Bleed it out,What ive done,Shadow of the Day and Leave out all the rest are the key tracks of the album and these are the tracks that got MTM a 7 from me.

The others could be thrown in the garbage. I'm glad I didn't buy the new CD. One thing that really pissed me off about this new direction that LP is taking was the completely useless cursing. Ok, could have been better by a lot because it is more boring than their previous albums because it has less metal and rap to it. I love "Given Up" and "Bleed It Out". "What I've Done" is okay but the sound is not very good or exciting. Meteora and Hybrid Theory are a lot better.

It sounds like some suicidal note left by a twelve year old kid over some Limp Bizkit "Results May Vary" guitar riff. Why Linkin park took so long to come out with this record is beyond me and my understanding. The songwriting is bad and the style of music on every track is inconsistent. The band is completely all over the place with the style of music for each song. It sounds like they couldn't agree on a new sound together and just had a deaf family member pick from the one hundred so called demos they wrote for the track listing of Minutes to Midnight. It's so sad that they actually think this is maturity and growth as a band because honestly it's not. It's filled with childish lyrics-wise and for God's sake why must every horrible band release a non original Bush-Bash track. its different but its good. the more i listen to it the more i like it. and to the people saying that they sound like fall out boy... fall out boy is actually good. you would know this if you actually listened to them. i hate people that say they hate a band and have never even listened to more than one of their songs. and this cd sounds more like U2 than fall out boy.

Minutes to midnight shows linkin park trying to progress, much in the same way bands like incubus have. Seemingly Ditching there more metal roots for an alt. rock sound and whilst minutes to midnight shows a step in that direction it doesnt compare to previous efforts. There is a great deal of potention on this album which is let down by an overall poor production value.

This is awful.......Linkin Park has jumped from one trend to another, They've always been devoid of any organic sound and any depth, and they try too hard for both here. The paint by numbers music of the past has been replaced by scribble.

They've stepped out of the box with this album & toned down their style without loosing who they are. It's hit or miss with bands who don't load their songs chock full of layer upon layer of added guitar and what-have-you; people praise Coldplay for their simplicity in every way, but when a band like LP tries to do the same thing they get railed. The trick here is to forget what you know, let go, listen, and by the end of the last track you will be satisfied with an album, and not just a collection of the same song on repeat over and over again. They were "ok" before. I got a fair amount of enjoyment out of Hybrid Theory and Metora, but enough is enough. They're just playing the same old songs but with different notes. Time to branch out a little, and maybe read a book or two so you can write some intelligent lyrics.

Two important questions come to mind when you approach the topic of a new Linkin Park album. 1) Are they still clinging to the marketable 'clean' nu-metal which was their claim to fame? and 2) If so...are they anything more than listenable? Unfortunately, this album has gone the way of every other rap-rock band- instead of being truly non-mainstream and just playing their music, they would prefer to dump their old style and adopt the latest 'genre of the month'. Seriously, this album is so bland, generic and cookie cutter. It's like a greatest hits of emo bands from the past 3 years, not to mention the massive U2 influences. There are some songs where they try stuff just for the sake of trying it, like on In Pieces they have a really boring guitar solo just so they can have a guitar solo. Also, Valentine's Day is pathetic, such a whiny load of crap, the chorus will either make you burst into laughter or burst into singing 'Forever' by Papa Roach (same riff but PR's version has a better melody). Also, what is with all that stupid hand clapping? It makes Given Up almost unlistenable. The two best songs are probably Bleed It Out (coz it actually has some ENERGY, even though the lyrics are brain dead) and The Little Things Give You Away because it has some pretty well-written lyrics about Hurricane Katrina (however, the bit at the end where Chester sounds like Bono makes me wanna hurl). They've stripped away all the extra baggage, and have started to become something much more. They're not quite there yet, but they are on the right track. They've developed a much deeper, more mature sound musically, and lyrically they've never been better....or even close to what they've achieved in M2M. Of all the things they've done, the most important things are: A much cleaner, more natural, organic (though not completely so) sound, intelligent lyrics (just listen to Hands Held High), real, MUSICAL lines (the guitar solo in "In Pieces" is undoubtedly the best guitar work they've ever put out) , and a lesser focus on Shinoda. One thing that has become evident, is that Linkin Park is Chester Bennington. Shinoda is still needed, though sparingly, to add some depth to the material, and what he does in M2M is far better than what he has done in the past, but it's still obvious that LP is all about Chester.
